SALARY: $53,465.00 - $68,622.00
THIS POSITION IS TIME-LIMITED, GRANT FUNDED, FULL-TIME. FUNDING FOR THIS POSITION WILL END ON JUNE 30, 2026. FUNDING HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR JULY 1, 2026, THROUGH JUNE 30, 2027.
The Trial Court Administrator's Office in the 26th Judicial District, serving Mecklenburg County, seeks a qualified candidate to provide case management and personnel management support in the Caseflow Management Division. The employee in this position will perform case management functions to support criminal superior court operations and will provide direct supervision of all employees in the Caseflow Management Division.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Manage criminal misdemeanor appeals and felony cases in Superior Court.
Assign, schedule, and track the resolution of criminal cases.
Perform case review and assign cases to clean-up calendars, as needed, to facilitate the resolution of issues and the expedient disposition of criminal cases.
Provide customer service and case-related information to judges, attorneys, and the public.
Gather data and prepare statistical reports to gauge performance in disposing of criminal cases within established time standards.
Identify ways to streamline business processes that result in a more efficient adjudication of cases and use of the court's time and implement process changes initiated by the Caseflow Management Administrator and Trial Court Administrator.
Assist in hiring, onboarding, scheduling, approving time and leave, and managing performance of all Caseflow Coordinators.
Participate in committee meetings or related events as necessary or requested.
Provide coordination, project management, and other administrative support as needed.
This position reports to the Caseflow Management Administrator. Work hours are 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. Alternate work arrangements, including remote work, are available.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Knowledge of: case management and calendaring rules and procedures to administer the case tracking and calendaring system; court system and organization to effectively interact with court officials, court procedures and legal terminology to communicate with court officials and law enforcement personnel; interpersonal skills to work with court personnel and the general public; organizational skills to monitor case activity and prepare court calendars; and principles of management related to the supervision of staff.
Skills in: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; and strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to: use office automation equipment to prepare legal documents and maintain the case tracking system; summarize, compile, and tabulate narrative and numerical material, analyze and record information, and balance figures; learn specific laws, rules and regulations relating to the court system and programs; be resourceful in gathering information and in answering unusual inquires and questions; compose correspondence independently following established guidelines.

Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in court administration, criminal justice, public administration, business, or a related field, and two years of progressive experience in the court system to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work described; or a master’s degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Management prefers applicants with a Master's degree from a four-year college or university with a degree in court administration, criminal justice, public administration, business, or a related field; or a Bachelor's degree in a related field and four years of progressive experience in the court system to acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the work described; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Management also prefers a candidate with direct experience in supervision and management of staff and a leadership background. Knowledge of court procedures and legal terminology is beneficial, as is experience conducting legal research. At least an intermediate skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is preferred. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter who is detail oriented and will possess excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills. Clean criminal background is required.
