Full Job Description

Learn precision cutting from Vidal Sassoon–trained stylists. Get paid the whole time.

Poza Salon has been in Myers Park for 20 years. We take on 1 apprentice a year, and we train them ourselves.

We hold the ratio at one trainer to one or two trainees, which means you get real critique on your work every week.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY LEARN

Precision cutting: graduation, layering, elevation, over-direction — the geometry underneath a good haircut
Color formulation and correction, not just application
Cutting and styling across every texture, from fine and straight through 4C — Poza has served a deliberately diverse clientele since 2006, and you will be trained on all of it
Consultation: how to hear what a client is actually asking for, and how to tell them when it won't work
How a profitable salon runs — scheduling, client flow, retention, pricing

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

Months 1–3, front desk and salon floor. You learn the business from the inside: how the book gets built, how clients are kept, what makes a service profitable. Most stylists never get taught any of this and it costs them for a decade.

Months 4–12, assisting. You work beside an experienced stylist every day — shampoo and color application at first, then cutting on models, with weekly training sessions we pay for.

Behind the chair. When your work is ready, not when the calendar says so. Then we help you build your book.

WHAT YOU'LL EARN

$15- 20/hour from day one depending on what you bring, plus tips and bonuses
Paid education — classes and training are on us

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You hold, or are within 60 days of holding, an NC cosmetology license. New graduates and stylists with a few years behind the chair are both welcome — what matters is the standard you hold yourself to, not the years.

You should be someone who:

Wants to be corrected, repeatedly, by someone more skilled than you
Is interested in the craft of cutting, not only the finished look
Talks easily with people — this is a client-facing role every hour of the day
Wants to work on every kind of hair, not one kind

SCHEDULE

Tuesday through Saturday, five days. Some evenings.

HOW TO APPLY
