Mount Washington Valley Eaters & Growers (MWVEG), a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening local agriculture and food systems, is seeking an enthusiastic and organized Administrative Assistant to support its growing programs and initiatives. The position is expected to begin on or around September 1, 2026.
This part-time position offers up to 10 hours per week with a flexible schedule and the opportunity to play an important role in advancing local farming, food access, and community engagement throughout the Mount Washington Valley. The Administrative Assistant will help manage organizational records, support communications and outreach efforts, coordinate volunteers, assist with grant writing and fundraising activities, and provide administrative support to the MWVEG Board of Directors.
Position Overview:
The Administrative Assistant will support the day-to-day operations of the Mount Washington Valley Eaters and Growers. This part-time role (up to 10 hours per week) includes managing records, maintaining organizational systems, supporting outreach efforts, coordinating volunteers, supporting grant and fundraising activities and assisting with communications. The schedule is flexible, with occasional evening commitments for meetings or events.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative & Record keeping
- Maintain digital filing systems in Google Drive
- Track expenses and assist with basic bookkeeping tasks
- Reconciliation of bank statements with transactions spreadsheet, creating simple budget reports for board meetings
- Support nonprofit compliance and record-keeping requirements
- Manage organizational email account and correspondence
Development
- Assist with identifying and researching grant opportunities
- Draft and edit grant proposals, applications, and reports
- Track grant deadlines, deliverables, and compliance requirements
- Maintain accurate records of grant activity and related documentation
- Support fundraising activities, donor engagement, and relationship-building with philanthropic partners
Communications & Outreach
- Draft and distribute press releases and announcements
- Support planning and coordination of outreach events and volunteer activities
- Help produce newsletter communications in Zeffy
- Assist with external communications and community engagement
- Support with website updates and general maintenance, including event listings
- Support social media efforts as needed
Board & Organizational Support
- Keep board updated as to progress of annual tasks and activities
- Provide written updates to board in advance of meetings, with occasional attendance at board meetings
- Provide administrative support to board members as needed
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and financial tracking (QuickBooks or similar software a plus)
- Experience with developing electronic newsletters and email platforms
- Experience with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail)
- Grant writing, administration, and fundraising experience preferred (or willingness to learn)
- Understanding of philanthropy and nonprofit fundraising strategies
- Knowledge of local food systems and agriculture, including challenges associated with running a farm business
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable coordinating events and volunteers
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision
- Interest in nonprofit work and supporting local agriculture
Schedule & Compensation:
- Up to 10 hours per week, with an increase in hours during February/March during FFA enrollment
- Flexible scheduling with some evening availability required. This is a 1099 independent contractor position.
- Compensation: $25/hr, with possibility to grow
