Full Job Description

About Us

Rock'n 50's Cafe is a fast-paced, retro-style diner serving classic American breakfast, lunch, and dinner favorites. We pride ourselves on great food, friendly service, and creating a clean, welcoming atmosphere for every guest.

We are seeking a dependable, motivated Full-Time Line Cook to join our kitchen team. This position follows a consistent weekly schedule while also requiring flexibility to help cover shifts when other team members are on vacation, sick, or have approved time-off requests.

This candidate would be responsible for working the following schedule:

Monday: 2pm-9pm

Tuesday: 2pm-9pm

Wednesday: OFF

Thursday: 2pm-9pm

Friday: OFF

Saturday: 2pm-9pm

Sunday: 9am-6pm

While these schedules will remain consistent, applicants must be willing to provide reasonable flexibility to assist with additional shifts or schedule adjustments when other team members have approved time off or unexpected absences.

Position Overview

As a Line Cook, you will prepare high-quality menu items while maintaining exceptional food quality, cleanliness, and food safety standards. This position requires someone who can work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, communicate well with teammates, and help create an outstanding dining experience for every guest.

Responsibilities

Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
Work assigned kitchen stations during scheduled shifts while maintaining speed, quality, and consistency.
Prepare breakfast items including eggs, omelets, pancakes, caramel rolls, breakfast meats, hash browns, and other breakfast specialties.
Set up, stock, and organize cooking stations before each shift.
Prepare ingredients for service, including chopping, portioning, labeling, and stocking as directed.
Maintain consistent food quality and portion control.
Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
Properly store, label, and rotate food products using FIFO procedures.
Monitor food inventory and notify management of low-stock items.
Assist with food preparation, restocking, and kitchen organization throughout each shift.
Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment as needed to support kitchen operations.
Complete daily kitchen cleaning duties, including workstations, equipment, floors, and other assigned cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and sanitary environment.
Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation at all times.
Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff and fellow kitchen team members to ensure timely service.
Assist with opening and closing kitchen duties.
Help train new kitchen team members on equipment, food preparation techniques, and safety procedures as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of restaurant operations.

Requirements

Ability to work the regular weekly schedule listed above.
Willingness to provide scheduling flexibility when coverage is needed for vacations, illnesses, or approved time-off requests.
Previous restaurant or line cook experience preferred; breakfast cooking experience is a plus.
Knowledge of food safety practices and proper food handling procedures.
Basic knife skills and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Ability to stand for extended periods.
Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a diner, café, or family-style restaurant.
Experience with short-order cooking and high-volume service.
Strong multitasking and time management skills during busy meal periods.
