The Vice President of Information Technology advances the mission of Creating a Better Living by ensuring technology is reliable, secure, cost-effective, and operationally effective for residents, commercial tenants, investors, and team members. This role is accountable for the execution of enterprise technology priorities through a vendor-led operating model and ensures technology services consistently support business operations and customer experiences.
Through leadership of technology vendors and internal technology resources, the VP of IT translates organizational priorities into practical execution, strengthens infrastructure and cybersecurity, improves collaboration and knowledge sharing, and guides responsible use of Microsoft 365, automation, and AI to improve operational performance and team-member experience. This role is responsible for service delivery, vendor accountability, enterprise applications, business continuity, and the operational performance of business-critical technology platforms.
Success in this role is evidenced by reliable and secure technology, strong vendor performance, effective execution of technology initiatives, and sound technology investment that protects organizational value, reduces risk, and enables the business to serve customers and communities well.
Starting at $140,000/year and more depending on experience
This is an in-office role based in Fargo, North Dakota.

- Technology Operations, Service Delivery & Reliability
- Own operational performance, governance, security, and reliability of enterprise applications.
- Ensure reliable performance, availability, and consistency of business-critical systems across all locations.
- Align technology initiatives with business priorities and operational needs.
- Strengthen infrastructure, telecommunications, and lifecycle planning to improve scalability and resilience.
- IT Governance & Vendor Accountability
- Establish clear governance for IT standards, decision-making, ownership, and escalation.
- Operate a vendor-led IT model with defined accountability and measurable outcomes.
- Hold vendors accountable for service quality, SLAs, corrective actions, contracts, and long-term partnership value.
- Financial Stewardship & Technology Investment
- Own IT budget planning and cost discipline in partnership with executive leadership.
- Optimize technology spend, vendor contracts, and total cost of ownership while protecting performance and value.
- Uphold disciplined governance for major technology investments, capital requests, and executive recommendations.
Organizational Alignment, Operational Excellence & Scalability
- Security, Risk & Business Continuity
- Strengthen the cybersecurity posture through proactive risk identification, controls, monitoring, and timely remediation.
- Ensure vendors and internal partners maintain effective incident response and security accountability.
- Protect the organization through data protection, backup, disaster recovery, and continuity strategies.

- Microsoft 365, Collaboration & AI Enablement
- Own the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including SharePoint, Teams, collaboration standards, security, and appropriate data access.

Experience, Education and Licensure
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ten or more years of progressive IT leadership experience, including responsibility for technology operations, vendor management, service delivery, enterprise applications, and team leadership, required.
- Experience in a vendor-led or managed-services IT environment preferred.
- Proven ability to manage vendor ecosystems and drive accountability across external partners required.
- Experience executing enterprise technology initiatives in support of business priorities and operational objectives required.
- Proficiency in the English language in reading, writing, and verbal communication required.

- Must have advanced proficiency across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and enterprise collaboration, security, and automation tooling.
- Must be able to develop and lead a high-performing technology organization that includes internal resources and vendor partners.
