Position Title: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program Instructor / Teacher
Location: North Haven High School
Work Schedule: Part-Time (17.5 hours per week)
Salary: Commensurate with the North Haven Public Schools Teacher Contract Step/Scale
Reports To: High School Principal
North Haven Public Schools is seeking a qualified, dedicated, and passionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program Teacher to lead our high school CNA instructional program. This part-time role focuses on preparing students for successful certification and careers in health care through thorough classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and clinical supervision.

Curriculum & Instruction: Deliver a rigorous, state-approved CNA curriculum covering healthcare fundamentals, patient care procedures, safety measures, and ethical standards.

Clinical Supervision: Coordinate, oversee, and evaluate students during practical clinical rotations at designated partner facilities.

Student Assessment: Measure student progress through formal evaluations, hands-on skill assessments, and preparation for the state CNA certification exam.

Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, inclusive, and professional laboratory and classroom environment that mirrors real-world clinical spaces.

Compliance: Ensure all aspects of the program remain aligned with Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) and Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations.

Licensure/Certification: Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) license in the State of Connecticut. Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience, preferably with a background in long-term care, rehabilitative care, or teaching/instructional environments.

Education: BSN preferred; proper vocational/technical teaching endorsement from the CSDE 103-HEALTH OCCUPATIONS COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL or eligibility to obtain an emergency/conditional certificate.

Skills: Exceptional communication skills, a patient-centered mentality, and the ability to inspire high school students entering the medical field.

Salary Scale: Hourly rate/salary is calculated pro-rata according to the North Haven Public Schools Teacher Contract relative to the candidate's education step and experience level.

Benefits Description: In compliance with Connecticut House Bill 5003, as a part-time position under 19 hours per week, this role qualifies for statutory benefits, voluntary payroll distributions, and any applicable protections outlined under the district's part-time personnel guidelines.
