U-S Merchants - Facilities & Equipment Manager -Manufacturing

Job Summary

U.S. Merchants is seeking an experienced Facilities & Equipment Manager to oversee the maintenance, reliability, and overall condition of our two Houston facilities.

This is a hands-on management position responsible for ensuring that our buildings, production equipment, material-handling equipment, and facility systems are maintained safely, efficiently, and in good working condition.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, mechanically knowledgeable, and comfortable coordinating internal maintenance personnel, contractors, and outside service providers while supporting a fast-paced manufacturing and warehouse operation.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee facility and equipment maintenance for two Houston locations.
Develop, manage, and monitor preventive maintenance programs for equipment and facility systems.
Coordinate repairs and respond to equipment or facility issues that could affect production or operations.
Oversee maintenance and condition of production equipment and material-handling equipment.
Manage facility systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, compressed air, fire protection, lighting, and other building infrastructure.
Coordinate and supervise outside contractors, service providers, and equipment vendors.
Obtain and review quotes for repairs, maintenance, equipment, and facility projects.
Track open maintenance items and ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner.
Maintain service records, inspection documentation, preventive maintenance schedules, and equipment records.
Conduct routine facility inspections to identify maintenance and safety concerns before they become larger problems.
Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Safety, and Management to prioritize maintenance needs.
Support equipment installation, relocation, repairs, and facility improvement projects.
Help ensure equipment and facilities are maintained in accordance with company safety requirements and applicable regulations.
Monitor maintenance-related costs and recommend opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce unnecessary downtime.
Respond appropriately to urgent facility or equipment issues at either Houston location.

Qualifications

Previous experience in facilities management, industrial maintenance, equipment maintenance, or a similar leadership role.
Experience working in a manufacturing, production, distribution, or warehouse environment strongly preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and practical troubleshooting skills.
Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and general facility systems.
Experience developing or managing preventive maintenance programs.
Experience managing contractors and outside vendors.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and maintenance needs across two facilities.
Strong organizational, communication, and follow-up skills.
Ability to work effectively with production managers, supervisors, maintenance personnel, vendors, and senior management.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and equipment reliability.
Basic computer skills and ability to maintain maintenance records, schedules, and reports.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with injection molding or other manufacturing equipment.
Experience with forklifts, electric pallet jacks, scissor lifts, and other material-handling equipment.
Experience with chillers, compressors, pumps, and industrial facility systems.
Familiarity with OSHA requirements and industrial safety practices.
Experience with CMMS or other preventive maintenance tracking systems.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

We are looking for someone who takes ownership of the facilities and equipment, identifies problems before they become emergencies, follows through until issues are resolved, and understands the importance of keeping a manufacturing operation safe, reliable, and productive.

The Facilities & Equipment Manager will be expected to maintain a regular presence at both Houston facilities and work closely with the operational teams at each location.
