Full Job Description

Assistant Controller:
We are currently looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to become a vital part of our clients finance team based in Oberlin, OH. This part-time role offers an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional eager to support a growing organization. You will play a key role in managing core accounting functions while working closely with various departments across the company.

In this position, you will be responsible for overseeing comprehensive accounting activities for both the main company and its Canadian branch. Your expertise will ensure accurate financial reporting, timely month-end closings, and efficient management of all accounting processes. Hours:

Flexible part-time schedule averaging 30 hours per week.
Hours may increase during month-end close periods and decrease during non-close periods, based on workload and business needs.

Pay:

$40 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee full-cycle accounting including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, adjustments, cash application, collections, and AR/AP
Manage month-end and year-end close processes in alignment with corporate timelines
Provide reporting and analysis support to the corporate accounting team
Perform general ledger reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
Review and post payroll-related transactions
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks and/or Microsoft Great Plains (preferred)
Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
Strong attention to detail and organization skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate across distributed teams and time zones

Nice to Have Skills:

Experience in manufacturing or multi-entity environments
High-volume financial data handling in fast-paced settings

Preferred Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
5+ years of accounting experience, including month-end close and financial reporting

Other Requirements:

Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated remote workspace when the transition becomes available
