Overview

North 40 Chophouse is seeking an experienced sous chef to join our culinary team. We are looking for a skilled, dependable kitchen leader with 3-5 years of experience in a Sous Chef position, preferably in a steakhouse, chophouse or high volume upscale restaurant environment. The ideal candidate is a hands on leader who understands that consistency, organization, food quality, and strong kitchen execution are critical to delivering an exceptional guest experience.

Responsibilities

Support the remote Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations
Supervise and motivate culinary staff, fostering teamwork and maintaining high morale.
Lead food preparation and cooking processes, ensuring dishes meet quality, presentation, and safety standards.
Manage inventory control, monitor stock levels, and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of ingredients.
Implement food safety sanitizing procedures and uphold strict hygiene practices throughout the kitchen.
Support menu planning and development, incorporating innovative ideas while maintaining cost control measures.
Coordinate catering events and banquet services, ensuring seamless execution from setup to service delivery.
Manage daily kitchen operations including but not limited to scheduling, inventory, food cost, and waste control

Skills

Proven experience in fine dining environments with strong culinary expertise.
Demonstrated supervisory and team management skills within fast-paced kitchens.
Extensive banquet experience and catering knowledge.
Skilled in food production, food handling, and food safety procedures.
Experience with inventory management, cost control, and kitchen management systems.
Ability to lead and develop culinary staff effectively while maintaining high standards of hospitality.
Strong background in restaurant or hospitality management with excellent leadership qualities.
Knowledge of dietary department requirements and food service management best practices.
Competence in food preparation, cooking techniques, and menu planning for diverse clientele.
Familiarity with bartending operations is a plus to enhance beverage service offerings.
