Position Overview:
Rite Projects USA Inc. is hiring experienced Structural Field Welders to operate fully equipped portable welding trucks on a utility construction project in Nebraska. The role involves FCAW structural field welding as part of a mobile crew. Candidates must be able to maintain safe, consistent production while meeting project quality requirements in outdoor field conditions.
Scope of Work: The welder will be responsible for:
- Perform FCAW structural field welding in accordance with approved welding procedures, drawings, and specifications
- Verify that required preheat is achieved and maintained before and during welding
- Work with an assigned helper / fire watch and coordinate with supporting crews
- Maintain the assigned welding truck, welding equipment, leads, tools, and consumables
- Complete required weld tracking, quality, production, and safety documentation
- Work safely around mobile equipment and utility construction activities while meeting production and quality expectations
Required Qualifications
- Current AWS D1.1 qualification, or ability to pass the required project-specific qualification test before production welding; qualification records must be provided
- Structural field welding experience with FCAW in multiple positions, including overhead
- Ability to read drawings and weld symbols, and understand preheat and visual weld acceptance requirements
- Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate an assigned company welding truck
- Ability to work 12-hour outdoor shifts and complete required orientations, tailboards, hazard assessments, and safety documentation
- Ability to meet hot-work, fire-prevention, site-access, drug and alcohol testing, and U.S. work authorization requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Transmission, utility, bridge, heavy civil, or structural field welding experience
- Experience working from mobile welding rigs
- Experience working with inspectors and completing weld or quality control documentation
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, HazCom, or fire-watch training is an asset
Compensation: $35.00-$40.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications. Per diem, travel support, or lodging arrangements will be available for qualified applicants.
