Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing personalized care and support to individuals with disabilities, developmental disabilities, and complex health needs. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve by assisting with daily activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence.

Responsibilities

Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, and mobility support.
Monitor patients' health status through vital signs, patient observation, and regular communication to ensure safety and well-being.
Support clients with medication administration and adherence to care plans under supervision.
Facilitate community outings, transportation, and recreational activities to promote social engagement.
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing cleaning tasks and adhering to sanitation protocols.
Use proper patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to ensure safe mobility assistance.
Document care provided accurately while respecting patient privacy in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly desirable.
Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism is preferred.
Familiarity with patient monitoring techniques including vital signs measurement and patient observation is essential.
Experience with medication administration, first aid, CPR certification, and emergency response procedures.
Ability to assist with ADLs such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, and light housekeeping tasks.
Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and team members.
Valid certifications in first aid and CPR are required; additional training in hospice or geriatrics is a plus.
Physical ability for heavy lifting, manual handling, patient transfer methods, and assisting with mobility devices like Hoyer lifts.
