About Us

The business is headquartered in Springfield, Massachusetts & operates on two facilities on over 20 acres. Our 120,000 sq. ft. indoor ferrous facility maintains strict quality, security, and environmental controls. We provide service to the New England area. The company dates back to 1891 & is currently owned by one family member. Ownership also owns three other operations in Western MA as well as an international scrap metal brokerage company.

Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will play a critical role in shaping the financial future of the business. This position is responsible for driving financial strategy, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining compliance with industry and environmental regulations. The CFO will report to the CEO and leadership team to support long-term growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Planning – develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives. Including but not limited to forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning.
Partner with leadership – to evaluate market trends, identify revenue opportunities, and support business development initiatives.
Risk Management – oversee risk assessment, insurance, and compliance with financial and environmental regulations.
Operational Finance – optimize cost structures, pricing models, and capital investments to maximize profitability.
Direct core accounting functions – including revenue, cost, expense, and payroll.
Oversee the preparation of accurate financial statements and regulatory filings in compliance with GAAP and related standards.
Leadership – lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous growth.
Present clear, concise financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership and board members.
You will work with the President and the finance team will report to this position.

Qualifications

Education – bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
Experience – 10+ years in senior financial leadership roles, preferably in manufacturing, recycling, or the industrial sector.
Skill Set – strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, strong decision making, excellent communication (verbal and written), organized, detail-oriented.
Understanding of GAAP accounting expertise, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, risk management, corporate accounting, regulatory reporting, State & Federal governmental accounting compliance, financial analysis and data interpretation, financial software systems, and executive communication and stakeholder engagement.

Pay: $225,000.00 - $275,000.00 per year
