Cottonwood Community Alternatives, Inc. (CCA) is a mission-driven, private non-profit agency dedicated to empowering Colorado citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Summary

We are seeking an energetic, reliable, and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support a sweet and delightful young adult female on the autism spectrum as she participates in fun outings and day program activities. This is a meaningful opportunity to help build social connections and community engagement while having fun and learning together.

NOTE: Because this position requires providing assistance with intimate personal care such as toileting and dressing to a female individual, we are only able to hire FEMALE staff.

Responsibilities

Plan fun outings and support participation in community activities (museums, walks in the park, bike rides, swimming, etc.).
Provide transportation for all community outings.
Assist with food preparation.
Provide hands-on support with ADLs and personal care (toileting, hygiene, etc.).
Encourage independence by promoting skill development in various areas of daily living.

Hours Needed

Tuesday: 8am - 1pm
Wednesday: FLEXIBLE HOURS between 8am - 6pm
Thursday: 8am - 6pm

Requirements

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly individuals who need behavioral supports.
Knowledge of behavioral therapies or a strong interest in learning.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with the individual, her family, and her care team.
Compassionate attitude towards helping others achieve their goals.
High School Diploma or GED.
Mature & dependable; minimum age of 21.
Valid CO driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
Must meet background and reference requirements.
Reliable vehicle with proof of auto insurance.
Clean driving record. No suspensions & less than three tickets in three years.
Computer/smart phone skills sufficient to complete required documentation.
