Job Summary

The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting operations of the manufacturing business. This role assists with maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, monitoring inventory-related accounting, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The position works closely with production, purchasing, warehouse, and finance teams to support efficient financial operations.

Responsibilities

Record daily financial transactions accurately and on time.
Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Ensures GAAP compliance for all aspects of accounting.
Record inventory movements and assist in inventory valuation.
Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
Assist in cost accounting and manufacturing cost analysis.
Monitor raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory records.
Reconcile inventory counts with accounting records and investigate variances.
Process supplier invoices and employee expense reimbursements.
Assist in preparing tax schedules and statutory reports.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate filing of financial documents and accounting records.
Compile and sort documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
Verify and post details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases.
Audit invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies and approves for payment.
Investigate problems that vendors or purchasing agents have with obtaining payment for bills.
Prepare vouchers, invoices, checks, account statements, reports, and other records, and reviews for accuracy.
Assist employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
Maintain knowledge of, support, administer and ensure compliance with all company policies including those that are stated in the Employee Handbook, Safety Policies, Quality Policies, Company Policies, etc.
Promote harmony in the workforce through good and open communication; fair, consistent and respectful treatment of others while maintaining discipline within the organization.
Promote safety and environmental compliance through active participation and support of company safety and environmental policies and programs and initiating corrective action for recognized unsafe conditions or hazards. Report any incident, regardless of severity, including fire, equipment damage, facility damage, or employee injury to the EHS department.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 0–2 years of accounting experience; manufacturing experience is an advantage.
