Full Job Description

Position Summary

Greenwich United Way is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and results-oriented Senior Director of Community Impact to lead the organization’s portfolio of community initiatives, partnerships, and grantmaking efforts. This role is responsible for driving measurable impact across priority areas including education, financial stability, and health, with a particular emphasis on early childhood outcomes.

Reporting to the CEO, the Senior Director will oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and investments that respond to evolving community needs. The role includes direct supervision of a team of 3–4 staff and requires strong leadership, data-driven decision-making, and community engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities

Program & Strategy Leadership

Lead the development and execution of community impact strategies aligned with organizational priorities and community needs.
Oversee key initiatives, including:
Community Planning Council / Needs Assessment
Community Investment Process
Early Childhood Achievement Gap Solutions
Early Education Scholarship Program
Champions
Greenwich Junior United Way
Establish clear goals, metrics, and outcomes for all programs and initiatives.

Community Investment

Manage the Community Investment process, including grantmaking, partner engagement, and outcomes evaluation.
Strengthen relationships with nonprofit partners, schools, and community stakeholders.
Ensure funding decisions are data-informed and aligned with impact priorities.

Program Management & Evaluation

Oversee planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of all programs.
Develop and manage program budgets in collaboration with leadership.
Design and implement evaluation frameworks to measure effectiveness and inform strategy.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and relevant regulations.

Team Leadership & Operations

Supervise and mentor a team of 3–4 staff members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture.
Provide regular updates to the CEO and Board on program performance and community impact.
Promote cross-functional collaboration across departments.

Community Engagement & Thought Leadership

Serve as a key representative of the organization in the community.
Convene stakeholders and lead collaborative initiatives to address systemic challenges.
Stay informed on emerging trends, best practices, and policy developments in community impact and early childhood education.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
7–10 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, community impact, program management, or a related field.
Demonstrated success in managing complex programs and partnerships.
Strong understanding of data-driven decision-making and program evaluation.
Proven leadership experience with staff supervision and team development.
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and facilitation skills.
Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into action.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a full-time position reporting to the CEO. Compensation is $95,000-$105,000 and commensurate with experience, and includes medical benefits, paid time off, and a 401(k) with employer match.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
