Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct counseling services in a relational, insight-oriented, and anti-oppressive manner that reflects LifePath’s mission of fostering connection, healing, and client empowerment. Engage clients in depth-based, long-term therapeutic work that honors their lived experiences and supports growth across all seasons of life.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, team consultations, and collaborative learning to enhance clinical skills and uphold LifePath’s vision of collective and individual liberation.
- Engage in initial onboarding supervision with the option as a fully licensed clinician to continue through ongoing depth-oriented clinical supervision.
- Perform on-site and/or telehealth clinical counseling services to clients of LifePath in accordance with company policies and best-practice clinical standards.
- Maintains an annual clinical caseload of 1,104 client sessions and proactively communicates anticipated fluctuations in clinical demand to support planning and ensure the annual service expectation is met.
- Maintain a 70% client retention rate while cultivating meaningful, collaborative, and culturally humble therapeutic relationships.
- Under the direction of the Clinical Director, adjust clinical schedule and availability to maintain caseload expectations after initial caseload build is complete.
- Understand and assess client treatment needs and collaboratively set clinical goals to support client progress and self-exploration.
- Demonstrate the ability to engage clients in a compassionate, curious, and culturally responsive manner while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Sit for 55 minutes during therapy sessions and provide consistent attention and presence for clients.
- Respond to clients’ requests for service or communication within 24 hours, whether in person, by phone, voicemail, or through online channels, ensuring timely and professional follow-up.
- Communicate effectively with clients’ treatment teams (e.g., PCPs, psychiatrists) as needed to coordinate holistic care.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with LifePath policies. Intake and progress notes should be completed within 48 hours of each session as a best practice, and must be finalized before seeing clients the second day after returning to work the following week to remain in compliance. Complete all other required documentation, including treatment plans, termination notes, and contact notes, in accordance with LifePath policies.
- Partner with Client Services & Outreach Coordinator to maintain a full caseload anticipating openings and communicating in advance of needing additional clients.
- Partner with the LifePath billing team to ensure clients’ forms of payment are current and accurate, and follow all billing policies that inform the scheduling and delivery of client sessions.
- Immediately deliver all payments obtained from clients to LifePath.
- Other duties as assigned that support the mission and vision of LifePath Therapy.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Counseling, or Clinical Psychology or a Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree from an accredited program.
- Active, unrestricted, current license in the State of Illinois, licensed at the clinical level preferred (LMFT, LCPC, PsyD, PhD, LCSW), open to provisional licensure.
- Available to hold a minimum of 23-25 client sessions a week (for an annual target of 1104 clinical sessions), provided such sessions are available and referred/scheduled by LifePath Therapy.
- Possess knowledge of processes related to outpatient psychotherapy including knowledge of a range of therapeutic approaches, theories and treatment planning.
- Must be independent, warm, compassionate, driven, and seek to contribute to a collaborative, values based and integrated team-based setting.
- Must be able to interact competently, sensitively, and effectively with clients and referral networks.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with details and organizational skills.
- Diligence to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Capacity to competently perform therapy through both telehealth platforms and/or in-person.
- Ability to adjust to shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of anti-oppressive practice and an understanding of equity and cultural humility-based counseling principles.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a private practice or outpatient setting.
- Have interest in at least one niche market for therapeutic services (i.e. couples, EMDR, grief/loss, older adults, eating disorders, substance abuse etc.).
- Practicum or work experience in couples and family therapy.
Position Considerations:
Work hours and schedule may vary depending on client and LifePath Therapy needs. Full-time position requiring 35 hours of work per week. We operate in a hybrid model with the options to see clients fully virtually or to work in person 1 day/week. In person availability is required for a one-day orientation and then monthly staff meetings/trainings on Wednesday afternoons. Expect to hold an average of 23-25 in-office and/or telehealth psychotherapy sessions per week provided such sessions are available and referred by LifePath. Clinicians are not guaranteed a minimum number of patients or sessions per week. In addition to daytime hours, fully licensed employees are expected to initially work at least 2 evenings per week or weekends if preferred with flexibility in end times based on scheduling needs.
Compensation, Benefits, & Incentives
- W-2 Status: $76,000-$87,000 per year with fee structure based on licensure level and experience.
- Profit Sharing Bonus Structure: Clinicians become eligible for profit sharing after completing one full year of employment. Bonuses are dependent on practice profitability and individual performance.
- Administrative Time Compensation: Non-exempt employees are paid their base hourly rate for meetings, supervision, trainings, etc., with pay adjusted based on tenure and licensure level.
