1st & 3rd Shift Opportunities Available
Pay: $28–$33/hour
Starting rate based on demonstrated welding, fabrication, and technical skill.
At this level, being a great welder is only part of it. You know how to build. You can look at a complex print, see how the pieces need to come together, and think through the smartest way to get there.
At Northern, our Senior Welders / Fabricators take on the builds that require that level of experience—complex custom products where layout, fit-up, weld sequence, distortion, tolerances, and the order of the build all matter.
When something doesn't go exactly as planned, you have the experience to work through it, adjust the approach, and keep the job moving. You won't be doing that alone—we have experienced fabricators, leads, Quality, and Engineering to work with—but we're looking for someone who can bring their own experience and judgment to the conversation.
What You'll Do
- Independently build complex custom weldments and assemblies from prints.
- Lay out, fit, fabricate, and weld components and assemblies.
- Work with stainless and carbon steel using the welding processes required for the job.
- Think through build and weld sequence, fit, distortion, and dimensional accuracy.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Identify potential problems and work through fabrication challenges as they come up.
- Work with other experienced fabricators, leads, Quality, and Engineering to determine the best approach on challenging builds.
- Be a resource for other welders and fabricators, sharing your experience and helping work through challenging builds.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for an experienced welder/fabricator who has already built complex custom work and can take a challenging job from print to finished product with a high level of independence.
Strong candidates will have experience with:
- Complex custom fabrication
- Independent layout and fit-up
- Reading and building from complex prints
- MIG and/or TIG welding
- Stainless and/or carbon steel
- Weld sequencing and distortion control
- Tight tolerances and multi-component assemblies
- Solving fabrication problems without needing someone else to map out the build
Experience with out-of-position welding, pipe, thin-gauge stainless, large weldments, fixtures, or other specialized fabrication work is a plus.
We're less interested in a specific number of years than in what you've built, the complexity of the work you've handled, and how independently you can build it.
