Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our healthcare office. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. As a Medical Receptionist, you will be responsible for providing outstanding patient service, managing appointment scheduling, and supporting the overall operations of the medical office. Your role is vital in ensuring a smooth patient experience and maintaining accurate health information management.

Duties

Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression.
Schedule appointments using various EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, or Athenahealth.
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate billing processes.
Collect and process payments accurately, including medical collections and billing procedures.
Manage patient records by updating and reviewing documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist with medical coding tasks, including CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding for accurate billing and documentation.
Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper filing of documents.
Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as intake procedures and care plan documentation review.
Utilize computer skills to operate office software like Microsoft Office and specialized EHR systems effectively.
Ensure compliance with health information management standards and confidentiality protocols.

Skills

Experience with medical office management and administrative support within healthcare settings. EXPERIENCE IN A MEDICAL OFFICE IS REQUIRED.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth is a plus.
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing processes is a plus.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient service excellence.
Ability to perform accurate 10-key typing and maintain high levels of accuracy in documentation review.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Competence in handling insurance verification processes and Medicare procedures when applicable.
