About the role
The Manager, Reactor Services will play a key leadership role in building and scaling TNC Services' reactor services business across the commercial nuclear industry. This highly visible, customer-facing position combines reactor services expertise, operational leadership, and business development, with responsibility for developing strategic utility relationships, identifying and winning new opportunities, and ensuring exceptional execution of reactor maintenance and field service projects.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner to utility customers while helping shape TNC Services' capabilities, market strategy, and long-term growth

Responsibilities
Operations & Project Leadership
- Lead the execution of reactor services projects, including refueling outage support, reactor vessel inspections, reactor internals maintenance, reactor diagnostics, and specialized field services.
- Provide technical leadership for reactor maintenance activities, ensuring work is executed in accordance with plant procedures, engineering requirements, and applicable nuclear safety and quality standards.
- Develop project scopes, work packages, schedules, staffing plans, budgets, estimates, and execution strategies for assigned projects.
- Monitor project performance, schedules, budgets, and key performance indicators to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support proposal development, technical estimating, bid preparation, and business development initiatives for reactor service opportunities.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, maintenance records, inspection reports, and technical documentation to support operational and business decisions.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and provide leadership to reactor service technicians, maintenance personnel, subcontractors, and technical specialists during outage and maintenance activities.
- Mentor and develop technical personnel through coaching, performance feedback, succession planning, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of nuclear safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with the Training Team to develop and implement technical and safety training programs while ensuring employees maintain required certifications, qualifications, and radiological training.
Technical Oversight & Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with nuclear safety culture principles, NRC regulations, quality assurance requirements, radiological controls, and customer procedures.
- Inspect reactor plant systems, reactor vessel components, reactor internals, and associated equipment to identify hazards, deficiencies, or maintenance requirements.
- Provide technical guidance for diagnosing and resolving complex reactor system issues while supporting safe and efficient outage execution.
- Support quality reviews and audits to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, code, and company requirements.
Customer & Business Development
- Serve as a senior relationship leader for utility customers, building trusted partnerships with plant leadership, outage organizations, maintenance teams, and key decision-makers.
- Identify and develop new reactor services opportunities by understanding customer needs, upcoming outage scopes, fleet priorities, and long-term maintenance strategies.
- Lead customer engagement throughout the business development lifecycle, from early opportunity identification and solution development through proposal, award, execution, and post-project follow-up.
- Partner with company leadership to shape TNC Services' reactor services growth strategy, service offerings, market positioning, and customer acquisition priorities.
- Represent TNC Services at customer meetings, outage planning sessions, industry conferences, and other nuclear industry events.
- Leverage industry relationships and market knowledge to expand TNC Services' presence and build long-term partnerships across the commercial nuclear fleet.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
- 7+ years of experience supporting reactor services, refueling outages, reactor maintenance, nuclear plant operations, or related nuclear services.
- 3+ years of leadership or project management experience overseeing technical teams, outage execution, or field service operations.
- Demonstrated success developing senior-level utility customer relationships, identifying and pursuing nuclear services opportunities, and contributing to business development and revenue growth.
- Strong knowledge of reactor systems, reactor vessel components and internals, refueling activities, and nuclear maintenance/service practices.
- Strong working knowledge of applicable NRC requirements, ASME Codes, nuclear quality assurance, radiological controls, and nuclear safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, OEM specifications, work packages, and technical procedures.
- Experience managing complex outage projects, including estimating, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and customer expectations.
- Established relationships within the U.S. commercial nuclear industry and a strong understanding of utility buying processes, outage planning cycles, and the competitive nuclear services landscape.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel minimum 50%, including extended assignments during refueling outages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting commercial nuclear power plants in reactor services, refueling operations, or nuclear maintenance.
- U.S. Navy Nuclear Program experience or equivalent commercial nuclear experience.
- Experience working in radiologically controlled environments with a strong understanding of ALARA principles.
- Experience with reactor vessel inspections, reactor internals maintenance, fuel handling support, underwater tooling, remote inspection technologies, or reactor diagnostic equipment.
- Familiarity with ASME Section XI, EPRI guidance, INPO performance standards, and applicable NRC regulations.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management experience.
- Experience managing teams across multiple nuclear facilities or outage sites.
Work Environment & Travel
- Combination of office, customer site, and field environments, including regular visits to commercial nuclear power plants and outage locations.
- Travel minimum 50%+ for customer meetings, project oversight, refueling outage support, and industry conferences.
- May require extended hours, shift work, or on-call availability during refueling outages or emergency customer support.
- Exposure to industrial and radiological environments; strict adherence to PPE, dosimetry, radiological controls, and nuclear safety protocols is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization for commercial nuclear power plants.
- Must be able to stand, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in industrial and radiologically controlled environments as needed.

Estimated Starting Salary Range
The estimated starting salary range for this role is $150,000–$173,000 annually, less applicable withholdings and deductions, paid on a bi-weekly basis. The actual salary offered may vary based on relevant factors as determined in the Company's discretion, which may include experience, qualifications, tenure, skill set, availability of qualified candidates, geographic location, certifications held, and other criteria deemed pertinent to the particular role.
When traveling for outage or field assignments, the Manager, Reactor Services will convert to the hourly equivalent of their base salary and will be eligible for overtime compensation for applicable hours worked.
