ABOUT THE ROLE
Golden Coast Construction & Restoration is a fire and property restoration contractor serving Northern California homeowners. Our Loss Consultants are proven field professionals trusted to carry a homeowner through the sales process — from the day-of-loss response all the way to a signed contract.
We're hiring a Loss Consultant to serve our Stockton and Modesto territory. This role carries the same first-response capability as our First Responder Consultants, combined with the relationship skill and sales discipline to own a lead independently when the opportunity calls for it. How much of the process you own depends on the lead — but the standard never changes: respond fast, lead with empathy, document cleanly, and protect the homeowner's trust at every step.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Respond — Be First on Scene (When Deployed)
- Respond to fire and property-loss notifications with an on-scene arrival target of 45 minutes (acceptable window: 30–120 minutes based on real-time drive time)
- Complete a rapid assessment before making contact, score the loss, and confirm resource needs
- On Fire Rotation and Supported leads, coordinate with your paired Lead Loss Consultant on arrival and through the Second Day Appointment
Connect — Lead With Empathy
- Make first contact with calm, confidence, and genuine care — the homeowner is in crisis, and you are the first voice of stability
- Listen first; address immediate emergency needs: safety, shelter coordination, board-up, and access to resources
- Build trust fast — every homeowner should feel heard, safe, and hopeful from the first conversation
Own What You're Given
- On Fire Rotation and Supported leads, run the day-of-loss response, secure the Second Day Appointment, and introduce the Lead Loss Consultant in person — the same role a First Responder Consultant plays
- On Primary leads, run the entire sales funnel independently: the client relationship, repair-scope coordination with the carrier's adjuster, Work Authorization, Plans & Permits, and the signed Home Improvement Contract
- Stay in your lane: you coordinate repair scope and cost with the carrier's adjuster — the homeowner's insurance policy and claim are handled by their carrier or a licensed public adjuster, not by Golden Coast
Build the Relationship Through Close
- Conduct proactive check-ins through production; surface and resolve concerns before they escalate
- Walk clients through their project portal so they always know where things stand
- Request testimonials and reviews at job close
Document & Communicate
- Keep loss documentation, photos, and pipeline records current on your mobile device
- Confirm and communicate property-security information to the homeowner
- Keep your paired Lead Loss Consultant informed at every relevant stage
WHAT THIS ROLE IS NOT
The Loss Consultant role is not an insurance-adjusting role. You coordinate repair scope and cost with the carrier's adjuster — you do not review, interpret, or negotiate the homeowner's policy or claim. On Fire Rotation and Supported leads, you do not field restoration or insurance questions in the first 24–48 hours; those belong to the Second Day Appointment with the Lead Loss Consultant.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record
- Available for 24/7 on-call emergency response, including evenings and weekends — a core requirement, not an exception
- Demonstrated ability to manage a client relationship and a sales process independently
- Exceptional people skills — able to walk into a crisis scene and help someone feel safe within the first 60 seconds
- Strong verbal and written communication — clear, calm, and confident under pressure
- Comfortable working outdoors at active loss scenes (fire, structural damage, hazard environments)
- Proficient with mobile technology, CRM/BuilderTrend, and field-reporting tools
Strongly Preferred
- Background in restoration, construction, estimating, or insurance
- Experience carrying customers through a full sales or claims-adjacent process
- Familiarity with Xactimate and Matterport
- Familiarity with the California fire-response and insurance-claims process
- IICRC certification, or willingness to obtain one within 90 days of hire

Pay: $85,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
