FULL JOB DESCRIPTION
Berkeley-based entertainment service has openings for stagehands to load and setup audio, lighting, and photo booth equipment. We provide DJ, audio, decorative lighting, and photo booth service for weddings and other private events in the Greater Bay Area.
SET-UPS WE DO
DJ station, DJ speakers, wireless microphones, uplighting, string lighting, station lighting, and photo booth
REQUIREMENTS
- Basic DJ, audio, and/or event lighting experience is a plus. Advanced audio and lighting knowledge is not required. You will be trained in all setups.
- Follow through on your commitments
- Punctual
- Responsive to availability checks within a day
- Relatively fit and can safely lift 50 pounds. Unfortunately this position is not the right fit for someone who would struggle to lift a small subwoofer or a 50 pound sandbag.
- Comfortable with taking direction
- Relatively chill. It helps in the fast paced event environments we often work in.
- Well groomed
- A valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle
- You own or are willing to get stagehand attire: black polo or button down dress shirt, black chinos or slacks, black non-slip shoes (not sneakers), black belt and socks
- Weekend availability. Saturdays are common. We're onsite some Fridays and Sundays. And we do the occasional weekday event. Every opening is optional on your part. But the more availability the better.
DAY-OF SCHEDULE
A day usually involves 30 to 45 minutes of load-in at our Berkeley office, drive to the venue, 1.5 to 2.5 hours of set-up onsite, a 5 to 7 hours event, around 1 hour of strike after the event, drive back to the office, and 30 minutes of load-out.
Some days you will be needed for the day. Other days there will be 4 to 6 hours of downtime when a stagehand is free to leave then return for strike. A meal is included for some openings.
SERVICE AREA
Greater Bay Area. Most venues we service are within 15 minutes to 1 hour of Berkeley.
COMPENSATION
$250 to $350 depending on variables such as if you are staying onsite and the driving distance. Most openings are $250 or $275. Some are $300 or $350. Occasionally there is a $400 opportunity.
You will be one of a handful of stagehands that are on our short list.
This opening is a great way to take the edge off monthly bills and earn supplemental income with a minimal scheduling commitment. College students are welcome.
