Full Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Medical Billing Associate will provide the highest quality customer service to all healthcare providers, patients and staff, while maintaining a positive, professional demeanor. This position requires performing various aspects of medical billing while working under time constraints in a fast-paced environment

Medical Billing Associate Essential Functions:

Maintaining complete, timely, accurate documentation of all approvals and denials.
Electronic and manual posting of all insurance and patient payments.
Balancing daily posting figures.
Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance companies.
Answer questions from patients, internal staff and insurance companies timely and effectively.
Prepare, review and send patient statements.
Identify and resolve patient billing complaints timely and courteously.
Must prioritize multiple tasks and efficiently manage workload.
Read and understand different Explanation of Benefits and Electronic Remittance Summaries.
Follow up and correct denied, reduced or non-paid medical claims and resubmit corrected claims.
Utilize and obtain daily eligibility, claims status and appeals, through online payer sources, document findings and proper sequence of insurances on patient accounts.
Read, understand and apply Federal and State regulations.
Adhere to policy and procedures set companywide and departmentally including but not limited to: OSHA, HIPAA, Employee Handbook, documentation, etc.
Diligent in successfully meeting monthly and quarterly goals set by Management.
Maintain a high professional level of confidentiality

Medical Billing Associate Skills and Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent and experience in a medical billing setting

Comprehension of Explanation of Medical Benefits
Knowledge of Managed Care contracts
Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices including insurance terminology
Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
High level of professionalism
Strong customer service skills and effective verbal communication
Strong attention to detail, organization skills and multi-tasking abilities
Excellent time management skills
Dedicated team player who is dependable and willing to assist in any way possible
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all individuals

Physical Requirements:

Manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
May require periods of sitting, standing and the ability to walk to various locations
Must have normal or corrected vision and be able to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person.

**Hourly rate determination based on experience and higher compensation may be available for Certified Coders.**
