Overview
Join our dynamic veterinary team as a small animal Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant, where your passion for animal care and veterinary medicine will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. Access Veterinary Care is a privately owned, small animal clinic that is rapidly growing, family orientated clinic. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Our doctors are board-certified pathologists with decades of teaching veterinary students and clinical practice, which means you will learn from some of the sharpest minds in the field while you build real, hands-on skills. Whether you are at the beginning of your educational journey, growing your veterinary technician career, or getting ready to apply to Veterinary School, you are encouraged to apply. Both our doctors served many years on the Admissions and Selections Committee for the University of Florida and provided education and mentorship to both veterinary students and residents.

We are looking for someone who loves animals, has experience safely handling animals, shows up with a good attitude, and wants to grow. Your energy, attention to detail, and dedication will help us deliver top-tier veterinary services every day.

Duties

Duties expected will vary depending on experience, skills, and if employee holds a license or Veterinary Technician certification. Likewise, hourly pay rate is dependent on skills and experience.
Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures such managing case flow of appointments, taking history, vitals, catheterization, blood draws, laboratory testing, and administering medications.
Perform animal and clinic husbandry tasks including cleaning kennels, laundry, cleaning and sanitizing surgical instruments, and cleaning and sanitizing exam rooms.
Handle animal restraint safely during examinations, treatments, and diagnostic procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
Manage laboratory tasks including sample collection, processing tests, and recording results accurately.
To be able handle high stress situations and being able to maintain a calm composure when handling pet owners that may be emotionally are distressed.
Maintain detailed records of phone and client communications, treatments, procedures, and patient histories in compliance with veterinary standards.
Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs and assisting in emergency situations with animal restraint and care expertise.

Qualifications

Prior veterinary assistant or technician experience is preferred; however, for the right highly driven person, we will train regardless of experience level
Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and aseptic and disinfection techniques is highly desirable.
Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, or veterinary surgical and anesthesia adds value to your application.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment while maintaining attention to detail under pressure.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members alike.
Flexibility of schedule to occasionally stay late to help doctors finish up the work for the day, work occasional Saturdays, and the possibility to be available for call-in, are all desirable features. Compensation includes overtime and call-in pay, as needed.
