Our Pet Care Providers & Dog Walkers help clients maintain the health and well-being of their pets when illness, disability, mobility limitations, hospitalization, recovery, or other circumstances make completing pet-care tasks difficult.
Position Summary
Serenelle Living is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and animal-loving Pet Care Provider & Dog Walker to provide intermittent pet-care services in clients' homes throughout the day.
This position may involve visiting multiple clients during a shift to walk dogs, provide food and fresh water, assist with basic pet-care tasks, and ensure pets are safe and comfortable.
This is an excellent position for someone who enjoys working independently, loves animals, and wants meaningful work that directly helps people remain safely at home with the pets they love.
Key Responsibilities
The Pet Care Provider & Dog Walker may:
- Visit clients' homes at scheduled times throughout the day.
- Walk dogs safely within the client's neighborhood or designated area.
- Provide food and fresh water according to client instructions.
- Let dogs outside for scheduled bathroom breaks.
- Clean and refill food and water bowls.
- Clean litter boxes and assist with other routine pet sanitation needs.
- Provide companionship, play, and appropriate interaction with pets.
- Assist with basic pet-related household tasks.
- Observe pets for obvious changes in behavior, condition, appetite, mobility, or well-being and report concerns according to Serenelle Living procedures.
- Ensure pets are safely returned to the appropriate area of the home following walks or visits.
- Follow client-specific pet-care instructions.
- Maintain appropriate control of animals during walks and visits.
- Secure doors, gates, leashes, crates, and other pet areas before leaving a client's property.
- Document completed visits and services through Serenelle Living's staff system.
- Communicate scheduling issues, safety concerns, incidents, or changes to the appropriate Serenelle Living team member.
- Maintain client privacy, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
- Follow Serenelle Living policies and safety procedures.
What This Position Does Not Include
Pet Care Providers are not expected to provide veterinary care, diagnose medical conditions, or perform services outside their training or Serenelle Living's approved scope of services.
Any medical or emergency concern involving a client's pet must be promptly reported and handled according to company procedures and the client's established instructions.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates will:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a genuine love for animals and be comfortable around dogs and other common household pets.
- Be dependable, punctual, responsible, and trustworthy.
- Be comfortable entering clients' homes and working independently.
- Have strong communication and observation skills.
- Be able to follow written and verbal instructions carefully.
- Be comfortable walking and handling dogs of varying sizes and activity levels.
- Be able to safely perform the physical requirements of the position.
- Have reliable transportation to travel between client locations.
- Have a valid driver's license and appropriate automobile insurance when driving is required.
- Be willing to complete required background screening and Serenelle Living onboarding/training.
Previous experience as a dog walker, pet sitter, veterinary assistant, kennel attendant, animal-care worker, caregiver, home-health worker, or similar position is preferred but not necessarily required.
Schedule
This is an intermittent community-based position. Pet-care visits may be scheduled at different times throughout the day based on individual client needs.
Team members may travel between multiple client homes during their scheduled availability. Morning, daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday availability may be needed.
Physical Requirements
The position may require walking for extended periods, bending, reaching, handling leashes, navigating outdoor environments, and interacting with animals of different sizes.
Applicants must be able to safely perform assigned pet-care responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.

We're looking for someone who understands that this position is about more than walking a dog.
For some of our clients, their pet may be their closest companion. A client's temporary inability to walk, feed, or care for that animal shouldn't automatically mean losing the companionship that is so important to them.
