Full Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis, 25 hours per week. Monday - Friday 9am -2pm. This is an In Office position ONLY. Remote work is NOT an option. The ideal candidate brings experience in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility environment and is comfortable managing a broad range of payroll, benefits, compliance, and reporting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Support

· Prepare final paychecks accurately and timely per California final pay rules

· Respond to EDD forms and Unemployment Claims

· Respond to and process wage garnishments

· Prepare and submit monthly union reports

· Prepare and file monthly Department of Labor reports

· Assist with payroll reporting as needed

· Assist with audits and records requests

Benefits Support

· Respond to court ordered medical support notices, track notices and ensure coverage remains active for annual open enrollment

· Complete new hire onboarding within the benefits administration system

· Work with payroll to identify and rectify any discrepancies in benefit deductions

· Assist with tracking leave of absences and continuation of benefit payments

· Manage qualifying life events, COBRA administration, ACA eligibility

· Assist with audits

· Provide support for employee benefit questions

· Assist with annual open enrollment

· Support employee engagement initiatives, events, and programs

Qualifications:

· Prior Payroll and/or Benefits Administration experience required

· Experience in a healthcare or skilled nursing facility setting strongly preferred

· Familiarity with union and collective bargaining agreements a plus

· Working knowledge of California EDD forms and wage garnishment processes

· Working knowledge of California wage and hour laws

· Strong attention to detail, discretion and organizational skills

· Proficient in Excel

· Basic knowledge of navigating HRIS systems

· Leave of absence administration experience preferred

· High attention to detail for handling confidential and sensitive information

· Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain complex information to employees with accuracy

· Proactive, problem-solving mindset

· Ability to manage multiple priorities with strict deadlines

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
