Calling all night owls! We are seeking a reliable Part-Time Overnight Kennel Technician to join our team at a local dog daycare, boarding, training, and grooming facility. This is an entry level role requiring cleaning, self-motivation, and constant supervision of dogs on the premises. Those most likely to succeed in this position will have some experience in animal care settings such as rescues, dog daycare facilities, ranch hand experience, or veterinary experience and have experience working graveyard hours. Hours are9pm to 5am. This role is 80% cleaning due to its overnight nature as most of our boarding dogs will be sleeping.
Position Overview
This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to self-start and multitask effectively. Responsibilities vary by shift and may include:
- Sanitizing kennels and preparing them for daytime shift
- Responding to overnight customer inquiries by email
- Monitoring sleeping dogs in boarding rooms
- Overnight office cleaning, washing dishes, and rotating laundry (80% of the job)
- Administrative work such as document filing and shredding
- Handling dogs of all sizes, breeds, and temperaments
- Preparing breakfasts for boarding dogs
Requirements
- Must be available to work weekends.
- Must be available to work holidays (4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years) .
- Strong attention to detail, especially in monitoring dog behavior and safety
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely handle dogs up to 100 pounds
- Willingness to administer medications (eye drops, ear drops, pills)
- Professional experience composing emails, responding to customer inquiries, and maintaining accurate records
- Familiarity with Office365, including OneDrive and Outlook
- Experience working overnight/graveyard shifts
- Must be 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience working with dogs (kennel, daycare, grooming, or veterinary setting) or ranch hand experience.
- Familiarity with veterinary software or customer record management (CRM) platforms.
