Full Job Description

Position Summary:

The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to company recipes, portion standards, and food safety guidelines in a fast-paced Chinese takeout kitchen. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently during high-volume periods, to work well within a Team, and strict adherence to cleanliness and safety standards. This position reports directly to the Lead Chef.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Cooking

Prepare all dishes according to standardized recipes, ensuring consistency in flavor, presentation, and portion.
Operate wok stations, fryers, salamander, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
Prep all menu items in accordance to recipes. Butcher different cuts of meat to specifications.
Cook a variety of menu items according to order tickets.
Maintain proper cooking temperatures and food handling procedures.
Ensure that all food leaving the kitchen meets quality and presentation standards.

Kitchen Organization & Cleanliness

Keep assigned station stocked, clean, and organized throughout the shift.
Perform daily cleaning tasks, including wiping surfaces, sanitizing cutting boards, and sweeping floors.
Assist with end-of-day cleaning and closing duties as assigned by the Lead Chef, Store Manager, or Supervisor.
Properly label, date, and store all food products in accordance with company policies and health regulations.

Teamwork & Communication

Communicate clearly and respectfully with kitchen and front-of-house staff.
Coordinate timing with other cooks to ensure efficient order flow and timely service.
Report any equipment issues or safety hazards to the Lead Chef or Store Manager immediately.

Inventory & Supplies

Monitor stock levels at the line and replenish as needed.
Help receive, store, and rotate inventory and deliveries to minimize waste and maintain freshness.
Follow first-in, first-out (FIFO) procedures for all perishable items.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all food safety and sanitation standards (HACCP, ServSafe, and local health codes).
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Maintain awareness of allergen cross-contamination prevention procedures.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods (up to 8 hours).
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Exposure to heat, steam, and sharp kitchen tools.
Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions required.

Pay: From $22.50 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 35.0 per week
