Full Job Description

SmartPlant 3D Administrator

Location: Lake Mary, FL
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 annually
Position Type: Direct Hire

We are seeking a highly skilled SmartPlant 3D Administrator to support, maintain, and optimize Hexagon Smart 3D (S3D) engineering applications and databases used for complex plant engineering and project execution activities.

As a SmartPlant 3D Administrator, you will play a critical role in ensuring system stability, data integrity, standards compliance, and seamless integration between SmartPlant tools and engineering workflows. The ideal SmartPlant 3D Administrator will have strong technical troubleshooting abilities, hands-on administration experience, and the ability to support multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Independently administer standard Hexagon Smart 3D project environments using approved standards, procedures, and change controls.
Create, copy, configure, restore, validate, and maintain Smart 3D projects and associated site, catalog, model, report, and application database relationships.
Review project initialization requests, verify technical requirements, identify missing information, and perform readiness assessments prior to release.
Provide routine and escalated Smart 3D application support, resolving modeling, drawing, configuration, access, and reference data issues.
Analyze system logs, reproduce defects, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Distinguish application issues from infrastructure, database, cybersecurity, engineering-content, contractor, or vendor-related concerns.
Administer Smart 3D application roles and permissions while coordinating access and security requests with IT and infrastructure teams.
Prepare, test, troubleshoot, and implement approved catalog, symbol, specification, rule, bulkload, and reference-data updates.
Perform project database copies, restores, imports, exports, and archive activities within established administrative guidelines.
Support and troubleshoot Drawing Batch, IFC, Name Generator, interference checking, drawing extraction, and other Smart 3D processes.
Assist with Smart 3D upgrades, migrations, testing, and user acceptance activities.
Support contractor, vendor, remote-engineering, and workshare initiatives through access validation, testing, and issue resolution.
Develop administrative procedures, troubleshooting documentation, training materials, and best practices.
Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements while escalating significant technical risks and governance concerns as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Technology, CAD/Design Technology, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3-7 years of experience supporting engineering design systems, plant design applications, CAD administration, or related technical environments.
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on Smart 3D (SP3D) administration experience.
Experience administering Smart 3D projects, environments, databases, user access, and project configurations.
Strong troubleshooting experience with Smart 3D application, modeling, drawing, access, and reference-data issues.
Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server concepts and Smart 3D database relationships.
Experience supporting project initialization, environment setup, model exchange, and system validation.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while recognizing when escalation is needed.
Strong analytical, documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to effectively collaborate with engineering, IT, infrastructure, contractor, and vendor teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting Smart 3D upgrades, migrations, and version validation efforts.
Experience with catalog, symbol, specification, rule, bulkload, and reference-data administration.
Experience supporting Drawing Batch, IFC, Name Generator, Global Workshare, and distributed engineering environments.
Familiarity with SmartPlant Foundation, Smart P&ID, Smart Instrumentation, Smart Electrical, or other Hexagon applications.
Experience with PowerShell, SQL, Excel automation, or scripting tools.
Experience supporting remote engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and knowledge transfer initiatives.
