Full Job Description

Location: Remote (US-Based Only)
Eligibility: US Citizens Only
Contract Type: Daily Rate Contract
Rate: $800 – $1,400 per day (DOE)

The Opportunity

This is not a traditional tax role.

This is a high-impact payroll tax position operating inside a complex, multi-state, high-volume environment.

We are not looking for general tax professionals.

We are looking for someone who understands how payroll tax actually works at scale:

Bulk filings
Multi-state compliance
High-volume processing
Real-time issue resolution

If your experience sits within ADP, UKG, Paychex, Gusto, Asure, or a payroll service bureau/TPA environment — this is built for you.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will take ownership of payroll tax operations across the US, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and scalability.

Own end-to-end payroll tax processing and compliance
Manage multi-state payroll tax filings (941, 940, SUTA, local taxes)
Handle bulk filings and high-volume processing cycles
Work with or within platforms such as MasterTax, ADP SmartCompliance, UKG, or equivalent
Manage tax notices, amendments, and reconciliations
Ensure accurate quarter-end and year-end reporting
Resolve federal, state, and local tax discrepancies
Partner with Payroll, Finance, and external vendors to ensure seamless execution
Support process improvements and automation across payroll tax operations

What We’re Looking For

This is a specialist role, not a generalist hire.

You must have direct experience in payroll tax environments at scale.

Required:

Strong experience in payroll tax (not general corporate tax)
Hands-on experience with:
Multi-state filings
Bulk filing environments
Payroll tax reconciliations
Tax notice resolution
Background in:
ADP, UKG, Paychex, Gusto, Asure or similar
OR TPA / payroll service bureau environments
Deep understanding of US payroll tax compliance

Highly Preferred:

Experience with MasterTax or similar payroll tax engines
Experience in high-growth or high-volume payroll environments
Ability to operate independently and solve issues quickly

Corporate tax professionals
Big 4 tax advisory profiles
General accountants without payroll tax specialisation
