Monday - Friday (6:30am-3pm)
We are seeking a dependable and motivated Foundry Technician to support all phases of foundry operations including raw material handling, molding, casting, cleaning, and production support. This position plays a vital role in maintaining smooth workflow across the foundry by assisting skilled operators and adapting to daily production needs.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-minded, and eager to learn multiple processes within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
General Foundry Operations
- Assist in various foundry departments including molding, melting, pouring, cleaning, and finishing.
- Load, transport, and organize raw materials such as sand, scrap metal, resins, and additives.
- Move molds, cores, and castings safely between work areas using cranes, hoists, or forklifts.
- Support furnace and melt deck operations by supplying charge materials and assisting with setup.
- Operate hand tools and pneumatic equipment for cleaning, grinding, and finishing castings.
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Molding & Casting Support
- Assist molding operators with pattern setup, sand mixing, and mold assembly.
- Prepare molds and cores for production ensuring alignment and proper handling.
- Clean and prepare casting surfaces for inspection and finishing.
- Help with pouring operations as directed, following all safety protocols for molten metal handling.
- Identify and report defects or abnormalities during mold or casting preparation.
Material Handling & Equipment Operation
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, Kubota skid steer, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
- Transport castings, scrap, and consumables to and from production areas.
- Load and unload materials, supplies, and finished castings.
- Assist maintenance and operators in basic equipment care, lubrication, and inspections.
Teamwork & Flexibility
- Work across departments to support changing production priorities.
- Collaborate with molding, melting, and finishing teams to meet daily production goals.
- Learn and assist in new foundry processes under supervision of skilled operators and leads.
- Participate in cross-training to expand foundry knowledge and skillset.
- Follow direction from supervisors and communicate effectively about task progress and needs.
Safety & Quality
- Adhere to all foundry safety procedures, PPE requirements, and lockout/tagout policies.
- Maintain safe handling practices when working near hot metal, moving equipment, or chemicals.
- Follow quality standards and report any nonconformities to supervisors or quality personnel.
- Contribute to 5S and continuous improvement efforts to improve efficiency and safety.
Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in a foundry, manufacturing, or industrial environment preferred (will train the right candidate).
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn multiple foundry processes.
- Ability to operate forklifts, cranes, or other material handling equipment (training provided).
- Comfortable working in hot, dusty, and noisy environments with proper PPE.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and work ethic.
- Team-oriented attitude with flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Work Schedule & Compensation
Full-time position with occasional overtime based on production needs.
Shift schedule may vary depending on department assignment.
Pay range: per hour (based on experience and qualifications).
