Full Job Description

Title: CTE Coordinator

Calendar/Contract: 182 day, plus 21 additional contract days

Salary Schedule: Certified Educator Salary Schedule (figures do not include pay for additional 21-day contract). Compensation includes an additional 9% stipend
Hours: 8.0 hours/day | 40.0 hours/week

FLSA Status: Exempt

Location: TBD (a high school within Weber School District)

Required Education and Training:
Must hold a current Career & Technical Education License or a Secondary Teaching License with a Career & Technical Education endorsement.

Job Overview:

This individual assists site principals and CTE teachers in administering, monitoring, and implementing the requirements for a quality CTE and concurrent enrollment program, grant requirements, and professional learning communities to support implementation of CTE program requirements. The CTE coordinator will have both school and district responsibilities providing leadership and support for the staff and collaborates with administrators, instructional staff, other districts, universities, business partners, and community members in assuring that appropriate CTE curriculum and instructional practices are occurring in all classrooms.

Essential Functions:

Must have a demonstrated knowledge of curriculum design, construction, and administration in the CTE area.
Must have a demonstrated knowledge of educational leadership and be able to provide CTE leadership, PLCs for all CTE curriculum areas on both a school and district level.
Must be able to e?ectively work at maintaining and fostering partnerships with community, business, and industry people to strengthen the relationship between CTE and the workplace.
Must be able to organize, recruit, and run CTE advisory committees.
Must be willing to develop a working knowledge of all aspects of CTE management, including but not limited to the following: curriculum development, budgeting, reporting systems, purchasing, equipment inventory, etc.
Must be able to oversee, initiate, and enhance CTE programs with minimal supervision.
Must be forward-thinking and willing to embrace new technologies, have a 3-5 year plan to build and promote your program areas.
Provide leadership and supervision for assigned CTSO to grow program area.
Understand state skills testing and be able to make crucial decisions using the testing data.
Develop and maintain a relationship with universities, OTECH, and concurrent enrollment.
Develop a vision of building programs, promoting CTE pathways, and recruiting teachers with a CTE emphasis.
Communicates and cooperates with the principal, counselors, district sta?, and other professional sta? to develop a positive outcome for students enrolled in CTE programs.
Provide e?ective leadership in maintaining a professional and organized sta? in the CTE o?ce.
Demonstrates professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.
Conforms to district policies, including attendance, absences, and evaluations. Employee attendance must be adequate to perform the above-listed essential job functions.
Have knowledge of the State Core Curriculum and Board of Education's adopted guidelines.

Attendance is an Essential Function of this Position: Physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position. Other Functions

Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

Work Environment

Primary Settings: Performs duties in a standard educational and office environment, divided between school-level classrooms, school laboratories/workshops, and district administration offices.
Technical & Vocational Spaces: Regularly visits, monitors, and evaluates hands-on CTE environments, including industrial shops, trade labs, agricultural sites, business labs, and culinary spaces.
Environmental Factors: Exposure to varied noise levels, temperature shifts, dust, equipment, and materials typical of vocational and technical classrooms.
Travel & Schedules: Requires frequent inter-district travel between high schools, junior highs, district offices, partner facilities (such as technical colleges and universities), and local business/industry sites. Occasionally requires work outside standard school hours to facilitate CTE advisory board meetings, Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) events, student competitions, and community outreach.

Physical Requirements

Mobility: Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving throughout large school buildings, workshop areas, and off-campus partner facilities.
Sedentary Tasks: Ability to sit or work at a computer workstation for extended periods while managing reporting, budgeting, curriculum planning, and state data analysis.
Lifting & Carrying: Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of instructional materials, CTE equipment, event supplies, or promotional displays weighing up to 25–35 lbs.
Sensory Demands:
- Vision: Close visual acuity to review data, read state core standards, review budgets, and evaluate lab safety practices.
- Hearing & Speaking: Clear verbal communication and auditory acuity for conducting PLCs, speaking at advisory committees, mentoring staff, and engaging external business partners.
- Motor Skills: Fine motor coordination to operate computers, standard office electronics, and inspect educational CTE tools and machinery.
Transportation: Possession of a valid driver’s license and the physical capability to operate a motor vehicle for district travel.

Must be physically able to perform the above-listed essential functions of a CTE Coordinator with or without reasonable accommodation.
