Position Summary
Primis Medical is seeking a highly motivated Surgical Instrument Specialist & Product Content Coordinator to support the identification, processing, quality assurance, refurbishment, documentation, and commercialization of surgical instruments and medical devices.
This unique position combines traditional surgical instrument expertise with inventory management, product intelligence, quality assurance, and digital commerce initiatives. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring instrument accuracy, set integrity, serviceability, and marketplace readiness while helping build and maintain one of the industry's most comprehensive medical product databases.

Key Responsibilities Surgical Instrument Identification & Processing
- Identify surgical instruments by manufacturer, pattern, specialty, and intended use.
- Inspect incoming instruments and medical devices for condition, functionality, and completeness.
- Sort, organize, and classify inventory according to established procedures.
- Assist with cleaning, preparation, and processing activities.
- Verify manufacturer markings, catalog numbers, and product specifications.
Set Building & Tray Management
- Build, verify, and document surgical instrument sets and procedure trays.
- Create and maintain count sheets and set configurations.
- Validate completeness and consistency of assembled sets.
- Research missing instruments and recommend suitable replacements when appropriate.
- Assist in standardizing tray configurations and procedure-specific sets.
Quality Assurance & Quality Control
- Conduct detailed inspections of instruments and devices.
- Verify functionality, cosmetic condition, and serviceability.
- Identify damaged, worn, incomplete, or non-serviceable inventory.
- Document quality findings and corrective actions.
- Ensure inventory records accurately reflect condition and status.
Service & Refurbishment Support
- Coordinate with internal service personnel regarding repairs and refurbishment requirements.
- Track instruments through inspection, repair, and release processes.
- Maintain service documentation and quality records.
- Assist with repair evaluations and replacement recommendations.
Product Data & Content Development
- Create and maintain accurate product records within company systems.
- Verify manufacturer information, model numbers, catalog numbers, and specifications.
- Assist with product photography and documentation.
- Support creation of e-commerce and marketplace product listings.
- Develop standardized product descriptions, attributes, and categorization.
- Contribute to the growth and accuracy of the Primis Medical product intelligence database.
Inventory & Systems Management
- Maintain inventory accuracy and location tracking.
- Assist with barcode and product identification workflows.
- Utilize inventory management, ERP, and product information systems.
- Support data quality initiatives and continuous process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in sterile processing, surgical instrument management, operating room support, central service, or related healthcare environments.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, instrument patterns, and surgical specialties.
- Ability to identify instruments through visual inspection, manufacturer markings, and reference materials.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Comfortable working with inventory systems, databases, and software applications.
- Ability to lift and move inventory as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician), CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician), or equivalent certification.
- Central Processing or Sterile Processing Department (SPD) experience.
- Surgical Scrub Technician or Surgical Technologist experience.
- Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), or Hospital Surgical Services experience.
- Experience building and auditing surgical instrument trays and procedure sets.
- Experience with instrument repair, refurbishment, or quality inspection.
- Familiarity with medical device inventory management systems.
- Experience with product catalog management, e-commerce, or marketplace listings.
- Knowledge of major surgical instrument manufacturers and specialty procedure sets.
