Wide Web Flexographic Press Operator – 10-Color UTECO/PCMC
Consolidated Packaging Group (CPG) is seeking an experienced Wide Web Flexographic Press Operator with a strong background in print quality, color control, and process consistency.
This position is intended for an established flexographic press operator with previous wide web experience. The ideal candidate has a proven ability to operate high-speed, multi-color presses, maintain demanding quality standards, and troubleshoot print defects to their root cause.
Experience operating 10-color UTECO or PCMC presses, using solvent-based inks, printing on flexible film substrates, and working with X-Rite color measurement equipment is strongly preferred.

Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and operate wide web, 10-color UTECO and/or PCMC flexographic printing presses.
- Produce printed film that meets customer specifications, approved color standards, and CPG quality requirements.
- Complete press make-readies and changeovers efficiently while controlling downtime, setup waste, and material usage.
- Review job tickets and product specifications to verify the correct print cylinders, plates, inks, substrates, tooling, and anilox rollers.
- Monitor and control solvent-based ink viscosity, color strength, pH where applicable, solvent balance, and ink performance.
- Use X-Rite color measurement equipment and software to evaluate color, density, and dot gain.
- Make accurate ink and press adjustments to achieve approved color standards and maintain consistency throughout the production run.
- Monitor registration, impression, trapping, repeat, print cleanliness, and overall visual appearance.
- Compare production against approved standards, proofs, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Identify, contain, and correct quality issues before allowing production to continue.
- Troubleshoot print defects involving doctor blades, anilox rollers, plates, ink viscosity, impression, registration, solvent balance, drying, and film substrates.
- Perform root-cause troubleshooting instead of relying solely on temporary adjustments.
- Complete all required visual, functional, and press-side quality inspections at the required frequency.
- Accurately document quality results, production performance, downtime, waste, and material usage.
- Load and unload rolls while verifying that the correct materials are staged according to the production schedule.
- Clean press components, rollers, print plates, ink systems, and associated equipment.
- Lead and direct press helpers during setup, production, changeovers, and cleanup.
- Train press helpers on safe work practices, quality expectations, and efficient press operation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with 5S and clean-as-you-go standards.
- Follow all company safety, quality, GMP, and operating procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience operating a wide web flexographic printing press.
- Strong background in print quality, color control, and defect identification.
- Experience running multi-color process and line-work printing.
- Experience working with solvent-based inks and flexible film substrates.
- Working knowledge of color density, dot gain, registration, impression, viscosity, trapping, and ink management.
- Ability to recognize print defects, determine their root causes, and make the necessary mechanical or process adjustments.
- Ability to read and follow job tickets, product specifications, approved proofs, and production instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and press troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to lead, train, and direct press helpers.
- Strong attention to safety, quality, productivity, and detail.
- Ability to lift, stand, walk, bend, and perform physical production work for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating 10-color UTECO or PCMC flexographic presses.
- Experience using X-Rite color measurement equipment or similar color-control technology.
- Experience with process printing, density targets, dot-gain standards, and press-side color correction.
- Previous experience serving as a lead press operator.
- Experience working within GMP, 5S, or formal quality-management systems.
Schedule
Night Shift: Sunday through Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
This position works 12-hour shifts.
Compensation
Starting at $20.00 per hour.
Final compensation will be based on wide web flexographic printing experience, technical knowledge, quality expertise, and overall qualifications.
