In this lively role, you’ll work across promotions, game presentation, and operations to embody engaging characters, dance, and entertain fans with your playful antics. With a flexible schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays, you’ll have the chance to create unforgettable moments and spread joy throughout the greater Northwest Ohio community. This schedule is flexible on working nights, weekends and some holidays.

Spike:
“Meet Spike- Born in the Maumee River and making waves since the Toledo Walleye’s inaugural season in 2009, Spike has become one of Toledo’s most recognizable and entertaining personalities. Known for his endless energy, mischievous sense of humor, and knack for keeping fans on their toes, Spike is always looking for his next adventure around the arena.
Whether he’s making a grand entrance during player introductions, firing up the crowd in the Cenovus section, or breaking out his latest dance moves with fans in the stands, Spike brings excitement wherever he goes. His spontaneous antics and larger than life personality have made him a fan favorite for generations of Walleye supporters.
When he’s not rallying the crowd, Spike can often be found plotting playful pranks on his longtime friend and partner in fun, CatTrick. With unmatched enthusiasm and a passion for creating unforgettable memories, Spike proves night after night that there’s never a dull moment when he’s around.”
CatTrick:
“Meet CatTrick-Straight from the depths of Toledo Walleye hockey, CatTrick is the coolest cat on the ice and one of the most energetic mascots around. Known for his quick wit and endless antics, he’s always cooking up his next prank-usually at the expense of his longtime friend Spike. Whether it’s a harmless trick during a game or a surprise appearance when Spike least expects it, CatTrick is constantly keeping everyone on their toes.
When he’s not causing mischief, CatTrick can be found showing off his dance moves. Widely regarded as the best dancer in the mascot crew, he never misses an opportunity to turn the concourse, stands, or ice into his personal dance floor. If there’s music playing, chances are CatTrick is already leading the party.
He also has a rather unusual obsession with drums. No drum set, bucket, table, railing, or random object is safe when CatTrick is around. If it can make a sound, he’ll try to turn into a percussion instrument. Between his dancing, drumming, and trickster personality, CatTrick brings nonstop energy, entertainment, and laughter to every Walleye game and community appearance.”
Essential Responsibilities

Perform at all home games for the Toledo Walleye or Toledo Mud Hens, as well as community and team appearances scheduled by the supervisor. This includes but is not limited to sponsors, charities, media and private functions.

Represent a Nationally recognized brand and organization, while portraying a positive image in the community/media.

Responsible for managing and maintaining all mascot equipment including props and costumes.

Read social cues to understand the level of engagement each fan may want.

Preserve the identity of the mascot and follow an established character playbook including mannerisms, body language, attitude, fan interaction and team representation at all times.
Qualifications and Skills

Previous mascot experience and skating experience are preferred but not required.

Must be friendly, outgoing, and enthusiastic.

Experienced in ice skating.

Ability to analyze and interpret common social expressions.

Ability to execute a number of tasks at the same time and working well under pressure.

Ability to carry out detailed written/oral/diagram form instructions.

Strong communication skills and ability to present self in a professional manner to interact with fans of all ages, sponsors, guests, players.

Energetic and outgoing personality.

Approaches and engages the community in a professional and friendly manner.
Working Environment
- Occasionally lifting promotional items and props needed, weighing up to 20 pounds.

Constantly carrying the weight of the uniform, either wearing the costume or carrying the costume to events, up to 50 pounds.

Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, etc. for the duration of the shift.

Game days will be outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain.

Constantly performing in restrictive outfits with impaired vision.
