Housing Assistance Payment Specialist – Financial Services
Location: Main Campus
Schedule: Monday–Friday; 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Summary: Processes Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) payments and financial transactions while maintaining accurate financial records and compliance with HUD regulations and CMHA procedures.
Responsibilities: Process HCVP payments, perform accounting and data entry, maintain financial records, identify discrepancies, and resolve payment issues.
Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred. Minimum 2 years of accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, or related financial experience.

Information Technology Project Manager – Information Technology
Location: Main Campus

Summary: Manages IT projects and supports digital inclusion initiatives that expand access to broadband, technology, and digital literacy resources.
Responsibilities: Plan and manage IT projects, coordinate internal and external partners, oversee timelines and deliverables, and support community-focused technology initiatives.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Project Management, Public Administration, or related field. Minimum 3–5 years of project management or deadline-driven experience.

HVAC Assistant (Fireman Assistant
Salary: $24.60/Hour (Increases to $25.10/Hour upon successful completion of the six-month probationary period.)
Location: CMHA Estates
Schedule: M–F; 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; Must be available to respond to after-hours emergency call-backs and report to CMHA properties when required.
Summary: Responsible for assisting the Senior Fireman and/or HVAC Technician with the operation, maintenance, monitoring, and repair of boilers, furnaces, ventilation, air conditioning systems, and related equipment. Helps ensure heating and mechanical systems remain safe, efficient, and in proper working order while supporting preventative maintenance and emergency repair activities.
Responsibilities: Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, furnaces, HVAC systems, and related mechanical equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and help troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. Assist with electrical wiring, repairs, and routine inspections of heating and cooling systems. Respond to work orders and emergency call-backs as needed. Operate hand and power tools, maintain equipment, and work collaboratively with maintenance staff to ensure CMHA facilities remain safe and operational.
Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; one to two years of post-secondary education in boiler operation or a related technical field is preferred.
Experience: Two to three years of experience assisting with the operation, maintenance, and repair of boilers, furnaces, HVAC systems, and related mechanical equipment.
Skills: Basic electrical knowledge, boiler and HVAC maintenance, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, use of hand and power tools, strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and the ability to safely perform light to heavy physical work.
Other: Valid Ohio driver's license and the ability to meet CMHA insurability standards.
Building Maintenance (Service Person IV) - Property Maintenance
Salary: $17.06/Hour

Schedule: M-F; 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Summary: Responsible for performing routine and skilled maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs at CMHA properties. Ensures that buildings and facilities are well-maintained, safe, and in good working order. Duties include troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and responding to work orders promptly.

Special Programs Operations Specialist - Policy, Planning and Housing Mobility
Location: Central Office (update if different)
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Summary: Responsible for administering and coordinating Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) waiting lists, Project-Based Voucher (PBV) programs, and other special housing initiatives. Ensures compliance with HUD regulations and CMHA policies while supporting program operations, improving processes, and collaborating with internal and external partners to expand housing opportunities.
Responsibilities: Administer HCVP waiting lists, admissions, eligibility determinations, and occupancy activities to ensure efficient program operations. Monitor compliance with HUD regulations and CMHA policies, oversee quality assurance efforts, and support policy and process improvements. Collaborate with staff, housing providers, and community partners to coordinate housing programs, provide technical guidance, and promote available housing opportunities.
Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in Community Development, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Social Services, or a related field required; an additional four years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree. Experience: Five years of experience in housing management, rental assistance, or human services, including two years of supervisory experience.
Skills: Housing Choice Voucher (HCVP) administration, HUD compliance, housing program operations, policy interpretation, leadership, customer service, communication, organization, Microsoft Office, and the ability to build collaborative relationships. Experience with Yardi is a plus. Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver's License and be insurable under Agency guidelines.
Community Center Assistant - Resident Services
Location: CMHA Estates
Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Summary: Responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the community center by coordinating recreational, educational, vocational, and cultural programs for CMHA residents. Supports community engagement initiatives, community center events, and connects residents with resources while helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
Responsibilities: Assist with planning and coordinating community center programs, events, and resident activities. Promote programs through community outreach, provide information on available resources, and support partnerships with community organizations. Help oversee youth programming, maintain program records, and assist with the overall operation and upkeep of the community center.

Digital Navigator

Summary: Supports residents by helping them use everyday technology such as smartphones, laptops, and internet services. This role provides hands-on assistance with connecting to Wi-Fi, navigating portals (including RentCafe), and building digital skills through one-on-one and group support. Ideal for someone who enjoys helping others and can explain technology in simple, easy-to-understand terms.
Responsibilities: Lead one-on-one and small group digital skills training sessions. Assist with connecting devices to Wi-Fi and resolving connectivity and device-related issues. Support users in navigating portals for applications, recertifications, and services. Provide outreach within communities and represent the program at events. Guide individuals in accessing affordable internet options and digital resources. Assist in maintaining computer labs.
Requirements: Education:* High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience:* Experience helping others with technology, customer service, or community engagement preferred.

Armed/Unarmed Protection Officer - Police
Salary: $14.95/Hour (Unarmed) & $18.26/Hour (Armed)
Location: Police Headquarters & CMHA Estates
Schedule: Ability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Summary: Serves as an unsworn security officer in high-rise locations, performing various security functions to preserve and protect life and property, enforce laws and ordinances, prevent and detect crime on CMHA premises, and perform emergency functions. This role may involve an element of personal risk and does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities: Monitor activity at CMHA high-rise locations and surrounding areas to maintain leaseholder and building security, prevent crime or disturbances, and apprehend violators. Observe, inspect, and report the condition of grounds, offices, floors, common areas, and other CMHA property. Maintain ongoing radio contact with superiors as directed; report any suspicious criminal activity for a police response or instructions to take necessary actions. Respond to and handle lockouts, emergencies, and other on-site problems.
Requirements: Ability to read and write the English language, communicate effectively, and interact well with the public. Skill in handling vehicles in both normal and emergency conditions. Physical agility. A minimum of 120 hours of specified training.

Police Cadet - Police
Salary: $15.00/Hour
Location: The location for the Police Cadet training is the Basic Peace Officer Academy, which is typically conducted at an accredited academy designated by CMHA. The specific academy location may vary based on arrangements made by the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Schedule: Full-time training at the Basic Peace Officer Academy. The academy requires completing more than 700 contact hours over a 24-week period. Regular and predictable attendance is required throughout the training period.
Summary: The Police Officer Cadet Training Program at CMHA prepares candidates to become sworn police officers by completing the Basic Peace Officer Academy. Cadets receive training in firearms, defensive tactics, physical fitness, and other required skills. Successful graduates may be appointed as sworn officers, with a commitment to serve CMHA for three years.
Responsibilities: Attend and complete the Basic Peace Officer Academy (700+ contact hours over 24 weeks). Develop physical skills, including firearms proficiency, defensive tactics, physical fitness, and driving. Adhere to the Training Academy’s Code of Conduct and Student Handbook Rules. Successfully complete all three physical assessments based on Cooper Standards (sit-ups, pushups, 1.5-mile run). Pass OPOTA written, firearms, and physical examinations. Maintain a grade of 70% or higher throughout training. Commit to a three-year tenure with the CMHA Police Department upon appointment.
Upon successful completion of the academy and appointment as a sworn Police Officer, the hourly rate will increase to $29.69/hour.
Dispatcher/Communications Officer - Police
Salary: $19.25/Hour
Location: Police Headquarters
Schedule: Ability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Summary: Responsible for managing incoming complaints, dispatching police responses, and operating communication equipment to support CMHA safety operations.
Responsibilities: Answer calls, log complaints, and maintain control cards. Dispatch police officers to incidents. Operate communication and computer equipment. Monitor alarms and initiate emergency maintenance calls.
Requirements: Proficiency in using computer systems and communication equipment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations. Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities.

Summary: The Police Officer performs various law enforcement duties to protect life and property, enforce laws, and prevent crime on CMHA premises. This role involves understanding department operations and relevant statutes, with inherent personal risk.
Responsibilities: Patrol designated areas by vehicle or on foot to deter and detect criminal activity. Respond to violations, including drug offenses, felonies, and disturbances. Enforce traffic laws and issue citations. Conduct preliminary investigations and gather evidence. Administer first aid and manage crime scenes until further assistance arrives. Testify in court as required.
Requirements: Certification by the Ohio Peace Officers Training Council. Minimum age of 21 and U.S. citizenship. Successful completion of background checks, physical agility tests, and psychological evaluations.
