Full Job Description

Financial Systems Analyst

Location: hybrid in Akron, OH; Greensburg, PA; Wheeling, WV; Fairmont, WV; or Morristown, NJ
Contract: 24 month long contract with potential of extension or conversion to full time
Pay: $36/hr + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Financial Reporting

Partner with finance, operations, and leadership teams to gather requirements and define reporting needs.
Develop and maintain financial and operational reporting solutions that support business objectives.
Analyze financial performance, budgets, forecasts, accruals, and variances to identify trends and opportunities.
Create and maintain KPIs, scorecards, and executive-level performance metrics.
Translate business requirements into scalable reporting and analytics solutions.
Drive process improvements through automation, reporting enhancements, and data-driven recommendations.

Reporting & Dashboard Development

Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and visualizations used by leadership teams.
Create executive reporting packages that clearly communicate business performance and key trends.
Develop reporting solutions supporting financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and operational performance measurement.
Automate recurring reporting processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Maintain reporting governance standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability.

Data Engineering & Analytics

Write complex SQL queries to extract, validate, transform, and analyze data from multiple source systems.
Support the development and maintenance of modern analytics solutions utilizing Databricks and related technologies.
Integrate operational, financial, and business data from multiple platforms into centralized reporting environments.
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reporting and analytics platforms.
Assist with the migration of reporting and analytics solutions to Databricks-based architectures.
Utilize Python and related tools for automation and advanced analytics when appropriate.

Stakeholder Engagement

Work closely with finance and business leaders to understand reporting requirements and strategic objectives.
Participate in executive reporting discussions and KPI development initiatives.
Communicate complex technical concepts and analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Collaborate across finance, analytics, and technology teams to deliver business value.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Candidates actively pursuing a degree may also be considered.
1–3+ years of experience in business analysis, financial reporting, business intelligence, analytics, database development, or related disciplines.
Advanced SQL skills for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
Experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI or similar business intelligence tools.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, Power Query, financial modeling, VLOOKUPs, and complex formulas.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Databricks or a willingness to learn and support Databricks adoption initiatives.
Experience with Python, Pandas, or similar analytics tools.
Familiarity with Azure data and analytics technologies.
Experience integrating data from multiple business systems.
Experience working with ERP, financial, operational, or enterprise data platforms.
Experience within utilities, manufacturing, financial services, or other large enterprise environments.
