Controls Engineer - Robotic Automation *

An intermediate to advanced Controls Engineer is needed for our West Chester, OH facility. The Controls Engineer designs, builds, and maintains controls systems for customer automation projects. A perfect candidate will have experience working with a robotic integrator. Our custom automation systems include pneumatics, servos, frequency drives, vision systems, communication networks, touchscreen, pushbuttons and robotic integration.

As a member of the KC ROBOTICS, INC. team, you join a robotic systems and engineering group devoted to utilizing innovative technologies and creative problem solving to build custom automation solutions. Learn more about our products and services at www.kcrobotics.com.

What You’ll Do:

· Design, implement and document controls systems for various types of automated equipment.

· Troubleshoot robot controllers, ladder logic, electrical control devices, mechanical units, transfer devices and peripheral equipment.

· Analyze project requirements and review customer SOW/RFP/RFQ specifications to develop customized electrical and control system design solutions for various automation applications

· Develop and optimize electrical design drawing packages using Eplan Pro Panel software

· Develop, write, and optimize PLC, HMI, Vision and Robot programs:

o PLC (Rockwell & Siemens)

o HMI (Rockwell, Siemens)

o Vision (Keyence, Fanuc IR, Cognex)

o Robot (ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa, Kuka) – a plus but robot programming not required

· Provide installation/start-up/debug assistance as needed; advise Project Manager of equipment installation issues and potential corrective actions.

· Support sales team in pre-sales technical concept and budgeting activities; and provide technical support to external and internal customers

· Assist with safety risk assessments for robot cells in accordance with ANSI R15.06 standards: identify possible hazards and determine risk reduction requirements, suggest solutions, and validate

What You’ll Bring:

· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) OR Associates degree with 1-3+ years of experience.

· 1-3+ years engineering experience in building controls, machine tools, and troubleshooting control systems.

Skills You’ll Have:

· Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including vision, power, sensor, inspection, communications systems, and Robot & HMI Programming

· Proficient with Eplan Pro Panel or ACAD-E; MS Office; Siemens TIA Portal; Rockwell Studio 5000 & FTV ME

· Vision system programming: Keyence, Fanuc IR , or Cognex

· Understanding of A3 Robot Safety Standards, OSHA Safety Standards, and NFPA 79 standards

Other Details:

· Ability to conform to shifting priorities and demands

· Strong work ethic with ability to work in a team environment.

· Must be willing to travel to customer sites and hold a valid driver’s license in good standing (up to 35% travel)

· Strong interpersonal and customer-facing communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively.

· Requires US Citizenship (ITAR compliance)
