Mold Setter / Die Setter – Injection Molding
Location: Akron, OH
Pay: $21.00 – $24.00/hour
Shifts: 1st, 2nd & 3rd Shift Available

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mold Setter / Die Setter to join an established plastics manufacturing operation in the Akron, OH area.
This is a hands-on role within an injection molding environment, responsible for setting and removing molds, connecting auxiliary equipment, supporting machine start-ups, troubleshooting molding issues, and carrying out minor mold maintenance and repairs.
The company is hiring across all three shifts, making this a great opportunity for an experienced mold setter looking for a stable position within a growing manufacturing environment.
Shift Schedule
- 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- 2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM — +$0.75/hour shift premium
- 3rd Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM — +$0.50/hour shift premium
Pay
$21.00 – $24.00/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Additional shift premiums apply to 2nd and 3rd shift positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and remove molds on plastic injection molding machines
- Clean and prepare mold mounting surfaces before installation
- Properly align molds and sprue bushings before securing molds in the press
- Transport molds to and from molding machines using an overhead crane or tow motor
- Safely install and connect water lines, air lines, thermolators, hydraulic lines, cores, knock-out plates, hoses and other auxiliary equipment
- Complete machine and processing set-ups prior to production
- Start production runs and assist with machine start-ups and processing adjustments
- Monitor molding operations and make appropriate adjustments to presses and related equipment
- Troubleshoot issues involving molds, presses and auxiliary molding equipment
- Perform minor mold maintenance, repairs, cleaning and lubrication
- Safely disassemble molds when required
- Assist the shift leadership team with machine and equipment-related problems
- Support production scheduling and shift operations when required
- Complete and update shop orders, process documentation and work instructions
- Communicate important job requirements, machine conditions and production information to the following shift
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area
- Follow all hazardous energy control / lockout-tagout procedures and company safety requirements
- Perform additional manufacturing and equipment support duties as required
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- 2+ years of experience setting molds on plastic injection molding machines
- Experience with injection molding equipment and processes
- Ability to safely install, remove and connect injection molds
- Experience working with mold auxiliary equipment and connections
- Experience troubleshooting molds, presses and molding equipment
- Ability to perform basic mold maintenance and repairs
- Experience operating a tow motor / forklift
- Ability to safely operate an overhead crane or hoist
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal work instructions
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Ability to measure accurately and work with basic tools
- Current, valid driver's license
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience with robots, automated molding equipment, thermolators, hydraulic systems, pneumatic connections and auxiliary molding equipment is highly beneficial.
Physical Requirements
This is a hands-on manufacturing position. The successful candidate must be comfortable:
- Standing and walking for the majority of the shift
- Frequently bending, twisting, stooping and reaching
- Lifting and moving items weighing approximately 25–75 lbs
- Working around heat, dust and industrial manufacturing equipment
- Working at heights and in confined or tight areas when required
- Using hand tools and mechanical equipment
- Working around large molds and heavy machinery
- Safely operating lifting equipment, cranes and tow motors
