SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for leading and participating in Connecting Realities programming. Leading and implementing instrumental and vocal music activities designed to meet residents’ physical and psychological needs, such as solo or group singing, rhythmic and creative music programming.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates with Director of Connecting Realities to implement and ensure the completion of Connecting Realities’ Programming. i. Delegates tasks and provides direction to interdisciplinary team members on connecting realities programming.

2. Evaluates residents’ functional status and assesses residents’ response to music, music preference, music skills, and cultural factors relevant to care.

3. Develop, administer and coordinate music activities and programs in accordance with state and federal regulations.

4. Implement music activities that facilitate non-musical goals (e.g. sensory stimulation, memory recall, positive failure, socialization).

5. Monitor and report on the condition of musical instruments to the Dir. of Connecting Realities

6. Work as part of the care plan team in determining therapeutic objectives and goals and participate in meetings as needed.

7. Keep accurate and thorough resident activity attendance records

8. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulatory requirements

9. Assistance with training employees.

10. Additional responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in music therapy, Board Certified Music Therapist (current), Licensed Professional Music Therapist, 2+ years of music therapy preferred. Knowledge of and ability to utilize a variety of musical instruments. Knowledge of hospice philosophy of care. Experience with geriatric community.:
