We're seeking an experienced Medicaid Waiver Specialist to help older adults and their families successfully complete the Ohio Medicaid Assisted Living Waiver application process.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, guiding families through complex systems, and making a meaningful difference—all while working remotely with a flexible schedule.
This Is NOT Traditional Case Management
If you're looking for a role that allows you to use your Medicaid expertise without the demands of traditional social work or case management, this position is for you.
This position does NOT include:
- Home visits
- Ongoing care management
- Clinical counseling or therapy
- Crisis intervention
- Caseload management
- On-call responsibilities
- Evenings or weekends
Instead, you'll become a trusted resource for seniors and families by educating applicants, organizing documentation, communicating with government agencies, and helping Ohio seniors successfully navigate the Medicaid application process from beginning to end.
What You'll DoGuide Families Through the Medicaid Process
- Answer incoming calls from seniors and family members.
- Explain Ohio Medicaid eligibility requirements and the Assisted Living Waiver program.
- Educate applicants about Aging Advocacy's Medicaid application services.
- Guide families through every step of the Medicaid application process.
- Provide compassionate support from initial consultation through final determination.
Prepare Medicaid Applications
- Collect financial, medical, and eligibility documentation.
- Review applications for completeness and accuracy.
- Identify missing information and proactively follow up with applicants.
- Ensure applications meet Ohio Medicaid requirements before submission.
- Maintain organized electronic applicant files.
Coordinate with Government & Community Agencies
- Communicate with the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services regarding application status and documentation requests.
- Coordinate with Area Agencies on Aging, Direction Home, Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging, and other community partners.
- Monitor pending applications and advocate for timely processing.
- Serve as the liaison between applicants, families, and agency representatives.
Documentation & Organization
- Document applicant interactions within the company's electronic documentation system.
- Maintain accurate records and application timelines.
- Track deadlines and follow-up activities.
- Provide status updates to leadership.
QualificationsRequired
Applicants should possess one of the following:
- Ohio Licensed Social Worker (LSW or LISW)
- OR
- A minimum of two years of professional experience completing Ohio Medicaid applications, including:
- Ohio Medicaid Assisted Living Waiver
- Long-Term Care Medicaid
- Nursing Facility Medicaid
Additionally, candidates should have:
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, email, and electronic documentation systems
Preferred
- Experience with Ohio Medicaid Assisted Living Waiver applications
- Knowledge of Ohio Department of Job & Family Services eligibility procedures
- Experience working with older adults and their families
- Experience collaborating with Area Agencies on Aging
- Previous experience as a Medicaid Coordinator, Medicaid Eligibility Specialist, Business Office Manager, JFS Eligibility Worker, or Social Worker
