Full Job Description

Compensation: The compensation will be consist of base salary commensurate with experience + Performance based bonus (up to 10%) + Comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, HSA, life insurance, 401k with match) + Paid time off and company holidays + Condensed schedule: 9-hrs per day Monday through Thursday, 4-hrs on Friday (Work from home on Friday)

Opportunity Summary: We’re partnering with an innovative and growing design and manufacturing company that delivers custom mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical solutions to the Military, Defense, and Medical Device industries. This privately held, financially strong organization is poised for significant growth, and they’re currently seeking to add an Electrical Engineer to their team. This role is responsible for product development activities including circuit design, PCB layout, microcontroller integration, and firmware. It also includes supporting manufacturing with test rig development, creating test procedures, and contributing to DFM reviews. This position will report to the Engineering Manager, and is based at the company headquarters in an eastern suburb of Cleveland, OH. The company provides opportunities for professional development and growth within a dynamic manufacturing environment, and a collaborative culture that values quality, integrity, and innovation.

Job Duties:

Perform full-cycle circuit design, including component selection, schematic capture, and PCB board layout.
Develop and maintain firmware for embedded microcontrollers, including low-level drivers, communication protocols, and real-time performance optimization.
Oversee and improve electronic circuit test procedures in the manufacturing operation.
Design and build custom test fixtures and wiring harnesses for efficient production evaluation of new and existing designs.
Contribute to acoustic systems design, USB integration, and Bluetooth wireless development.
Ensure robust RFI/EMI mitigation, signal integrity, and power management across designs.
Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM), including PCB layouts optimized for pick-and-place production.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, software, manufacturing, and quality) to integrate hardware, firmware, and mechanical systems.
Participate in design reviews, risk analysis, and verification/validation activities to meet stringent military and medical standards.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in electrical/embedded systems design, ideally in military, aerospace, defense, or medical device industries.
Proven expertise in:
Circuit schematic design and PCB layout (Altium Designer or equivalent strongly preferred)
RFI/EMI design and mitigation techniques
Embedded microcontroller design and programming
Digital circuitry and signal integrity
Bluetooth and USB integration
PCB layout optimized for high-volume pick-and-place manufacturing
Hands-on experience developing and debugging firmware for real-time embedded applications.
Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance: MIL-STD, IPC, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IEC 60601, or FDA design controls for medical devices (preferred).
Experience with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and high-reliability / safety-critical design practices.
Familiarity with automated testing, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and environmental testing.
Understanding of acoustic signal processing or audio system integration.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills in both lab and production environments.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and cross-team collaboration.
