Position Description:
Designs and implements physical and virtual infrastructure and services, while driving the adoption of automation technologies and ensuring the scalability, availability, and security of systems.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Designs and deploys highly scalable and reliable infrastructure solutions based on industry’s best practices.
Automates the monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting of physical and virtual infrastructure.
Develops and executes architecture strategies, creating and standards to ensure optimal performance, security, and cost efficiency.
Enhances and strengthens security frameworks and practices to protect systems and data.
Drives cross-functional teams to define and implement cloud migration strategies.
Automates infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and configuration management using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools and techniques.
Creates and maintenance of operational policies, procedures, and documentation related to physical and virtual infrastructure.
Acts as primary escalation point for technical leaders and vendors in resolving complex infrastructure challenges.
Heads capacity planning, performance analysis, and system tuning activities.
Presents opportunities for system improvements by evaluating new infrastructure technologies, services, and tools.
Provides expertise in infrastructure engineering and supports development teams with application deployment and integration.
Guides junior System Engineers, by offering technical assistance and support.
Participates in on-call rotation.
Perform other related assigned duties as necessary to complete the Primary Job Responsibilities as described above.

Minimum Requirements:
Position requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field and five years' experience in the application of infrastructure technologies with a focus on designing, implementing, and managing physical and virtual infrastructure in a production environment. Master’s degree preferred. At least one certification such as Red Hat Systems Engineer, Windows Administrator, or VMware Data Center Virtualization or Network Virtualization is required or the ability to obtain with 12 months of employment. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
Position requires advanced knowledge of infrastructure technologies such as physical and virtual compute including rack and blade servers, DAS and SAN storage, physical and virtual networks systems from vendors such as Supermicro, Dell, and CISCO; advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies and concepts, such as virtual machines (VMs), servers, storage, and compute management with common hypervisors such as VMware, KVM, OpenStack, or Nutanix AHV; expert ability to use infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform, BitBucket and Git; expert knowledge in the configuration, planning, implementation, administration and optimization of compute, storage, and network infrastructures, including CPU and memory controls, storage management, and system networking; an ability to manage, optimize, plan, and design complex infrastructure that uses Server Operating Systems such as Microsoft Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Ubuntu, and related technologies such as Active Directory and DNS; a solid understanding of security best practices and tools for cloud environments, including identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and monitoring; very strong problem-solving skills in hybrid environments with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues; the ability to provide on-call support twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week; strong scripting and automation skills using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, BitBucket and Git; and strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
