Main Duties Include:
- Greet and assist visitors, answer questions, and explain regulations that apply to them. Distribute maps and informational brochures. May assist campers in locating a campsite, be familiar with local points of interest, and the location of services that might be requested by visitors, such as local attractions, events, grocery stores, and gas stations. Will perform light maintenance around the campground, such as picking up litter, cleaning out fire rings, washing tables, cleaning & stocking restrooms, providing information to park staff on potential problems, and disseminating information to campers.
- Hosts must always set an example by being a model camper, practicing good housekeeping in and around their assigned site, and by observing all rules and regulations.
- May assist in campground public relations, educational activities, and special events/activities.
- Be the liaison between park visitors and park staff – notify when trees need to be trimmed, comments fromvisitors (positive or negative), trail maintenance, etc.
- Camp hosts are required to patrol the park during the evenings, Monday-Friday, and multiple times a day on the weekends. Camp hosts are expected to work most weekends and all holidays during their term.
Additional Duties:
These duties may come up, but will not occur often:
- Filling in at the bait shop/gatehouse – only when part-time staff are unavailable – will be compensated at the minimum wage rate.

Time Commitment:
At least 24 hours of service time per week that includes evenings, most weekends, and all holidays during the season. Days off will be discussed upon hiring – must be submitted two weeks prior to time off.
Supervision and Training Provided:
Supervised by managerial staff. Will be trained in campground registration procedures, rules & regulations, and host responsibilities.
Skills Required:
Ability to get along well with people. Ability to remain calm and friendly when confronted with upset visitors. Ability to physically move around and make rounds through the recreation area. Ability to adapt to changing work conditions.
Expectations:
Camp hosts must set an example by being model campers who always practice good housekeeping in and around their
campsite. Camp hosts must not attempt to discipline or apprehend any park violators for any disturbances; camp hosts are to call the Stillwater Police Department and the manager on call. Camp hosts will be required to drive between the East & West Recreation Areas (at their own expense) – unless two camp hosts are hired on.
