Full Job Description

The Nutrition Site Manager / Head Cook is responsible for the daily operation of a senior nutrition site, including meal preparation, food safety, site administration, and customer service. This position prepares and serves nutritious meals to older adults while overseeing site operations, maintaining program records, supervising volunteers, and ensuring compliance with agency policies and food safety standards. The ideal candidate enjoys cooking, is well organized, and is committed to providing excellent service to seniors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Prepare, package, and serve nutritious meals for congregate dining and home-delivered meal participants according to approved menus, recipes, portion sizes, and food safety guidelines.

· Package home-delivered meals and prepare meal carriers for delivery in accordance with food safety standards and established delivery schedules, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.

· Receive, inspect, store, and rotate food and supplies using proper food safety practices.

· Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen, dining area, equipment, and storage areas.

· Monitor food temperatures and complete all required food safety and sanitation records.

· Order food and kitchen supplies as directed and maintain adequate inventory levels.

· Oversee the daily operation of the nutrition site, including meal reservations, attendance records, meal counts, and required program documentation.

· Collect participant contributions in accordance with program policies and accurately complete required reports and deposits.

· Supervise, schedule, and assist volunteers to ensure efficient meal service and participant support.

· Provide friendly, respectful customer service and foster a welcoming environment for participants.

· Report maintenance, safety, or equipment issues to the Nutrition Program Director.

· Follow all agency policies, health department regulations, food safety standards, and Older Americans Act program requirements.

· Participate in required meetings, trainings, and continuing education.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED preferred.

· Experience in commercial food preparation, institutional cooking, or food service preferred.

· Supervisory, leadership, or site management experience is preferred.

· Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices.

· Ability to maintain accurate records and complete reports.

· Basic computer skills and the ability to use email and complete required documentation.

· Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

· Frequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds.

· Bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.

· Work safely in a commercial kitchen environment.

Schedule

· Monday through Friday

· Day shift

· No evenings, weekends, or major holidays
