Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Assistant and play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care across diverse medical settings. In this energetic and fast-paced position, you will support physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals by performing clinical and administrative tasks that ensure smooth clinic operations. Your expertise will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel cared for, informed, and confident in their treatment journey. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a variety of medical specialties including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient services.

Duties

Assist healthcare providers with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
Prepare examination rooms with necessary supplies and ensure cleanliness and organization for efficient patient flow.
Support clinical procedures such as phlebotomy (blood draws), medication administration, X-ray assistance, and basic wound care.
Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) accurately by documenting patient encounters, updating charts, and coding diagnoses using ICD codes.
Facilitate patient education by explaining procedures, medication instructions, and follow-up care plans clearly and compassionately.
Perform basic physiology assessments and assist with emergency medicine protocols when needed in urgent or trauma settings.
Support medical office management tasks including appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.

Requirements

Proven experience or training in outpatient or hospital medicine environments; familiarity with inpatient settings or Level I/II trauma centers is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding to ensure accurate documentation and effective patient communication.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as phlebotomy or X-ray technician credentials are a plus.
Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR/EHR systems) like EMR platforms for managing patient data efficiently.
Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations within emergency medicine or urgent care environments.
Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics (PICU experience preferred), and patients requiring medical-surgical or internal medicine care.
Demonstrated hospital experience or outpatient clinic background; familiarity with Geriatrics, OR procedures, or PICU is advantageous.
