JOB SUMMARY:
The Transportation Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Logistics Relationship Managers and logistic business processes required to ensure timely transportation of Grain Craft products. Tasks which include: the maintenance and support of OTM and other transportation logistics systems. They will serve as a backup as necessary for the Managers as well as assist with special projects as necessary. This incumbent will work with Grain Craft’s fleet updates and lease bill payments. They will also assist in the process of demurrage/storage rail disputes; file claims for loss and damage, and process overcharge/undercharge billing. The incumbent will serve as the communication contact point for vendors of transportation services regarding freight billing including issue resolution resulting from system interaction and accounting.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Responsible for the overall payment of freight both inbound/outbound and related transportation expenses through internal automated systems.
· Assist in retaining data integrity including updates, customer contacts, payables, and maintenance of OTM. Provides technical advice for all OTM-related matters for mills and carriers.
· Responsible for new carrier development.
· Daily maintenance of various rail and truck reports
· Responsible for various projects and continuous process improvements as assigned.
· Responsible for filing freight claims, maintaining carrier agreement, and insurance certificates.
· Assist with quoting of LTL rates as needed.
· Daily fleet monitoring- report on overall fleet operations.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Manage Process Flow
· Manages customer/carrier order flow from Grain Craft to transportation carriers, through automation then back to Grain Craft.
· Utilizes various software packages that allow Grain Craft to service customers and support our carriers.
· Communicates, trains, and prepares team for onboarding of additional carriers into OTM system. Serves as an OTM master user.
· Balance carrier accounts. Research invoices to ensure accuracy.
Customer Services
· Assists with problem resolution, billing, diversions, overweight concerns and other disputes in a professional manner.
· Assists as needed in all areas of transportation and logistics.
· Be available to support Director and team on various projects and communications.
Organization Relationships
This position reports to the Logistics Director and will have a dotted line reporting relationship with the Logistic Relationship Managers. Peer occupations in the company include accounting and carrier AP/AR supervisors, sales, mill personnel, customer service, and supply chain teams. The external customers of this position will also include carriers, carrier customer service, software vendor - OTM, and accounting, and the individuals responsible for logistics and purchasing services of carriers and related transportation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· 3-5 years of relevant experience in a related logistics support position
Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, ag business preferred.
· In depth understanding and heavy practical experience using relatively complex Excel spreadsheet applications.
· An understanding of the integrated nature of Grain Craft’s logistic software system to gather facts and information
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to communicate concepts and information to a variety of audiences with varying levels of understanding about the content of the information being delivered.
· Ability to prioritize and make judgement calls on when to involve others in problem-solving and detailed analysis.
· Strong interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with vendors, carriers, sales managers, grain buyers, supply chain and cost account personnel.
· Must be able to work independently and be part of the team in a fast-paced environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to leadership, public groups, and team members.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical and deal with several unique variables.
