Full Job Description

Assistant Manager — Field Operations

Odyssey Painting & Construction is looking for an Assistant Manager to join our growing team in Olathe, KS.

This is a hands-on, in-the-field role. This is not a desk job. The right person will spend most of their time visiting active jobsites, communicating with crews, checking project progress, helping solve problems, coordinating materials, and making sure our customers are taken care of.

We specialize in high-quality interior painting, exterior painting, wood rot repair, siding repairs, and other construction-related projects. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, good with people, and interested in growing into a leadership role in the painting and construction industry.

This position reports to the Operations Manager and has a clear path for growth. A strong performer in this role can be promoted into an experienced Field Manager position within 1–2 years.

What You’ll Do

As an Assistant Manager, you will help coordinate either our painting teams or carpentry teams and make sure projects are moving smoothly from start to finish.

Responsibilities include:

Visiting jobsites daily to check progress, quality, materials, and crew needs
Coordinating with painting crews, carpentry crews, and field leadership
Helping manage schedules, materials, and jobsite logistics
Communicating with customers during active projects
Walking jobsites to identify issues, answer questions, and help keep projects on track
Supporting crews with information, materials, and problem-solving
Taking progress photos and helping document job updates
Assisting with quality control to make sure work meets Odyssey standards
Helping resolve jobsite issues before they become bigger problems
Learning how to manage projects from start to finish
Occasionally helping with emails, notes, or admin follow-up when needed

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being active, working with people, and solving problems in real time.

You may be a good fit if you are:

Organized and able to keep track of multiple moving pieces
Comfortable communicating with customers and crews
Calm under pressure and able to solve problems quickly
Dependable, professional, and willing to take ownership
Comfortable being on jobsites and working in changing conditions
Interested in learning painting, carpentry, and construction operations
Able to manage details while still keeping the big picture in mind
Looking for a long-term growth opportunity

Painting or construction experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.

Spanish-speaking ability is also a plus, but not required.

Schedule

Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–6:00 PM
Every third Saturday: 8:00 AM–1:00 PM
Overtime is expected and paid according to applicable overtime rules

Pay

Starting pay at $20 per hour
Overtime pay available/expected
Company vehicle provided for work use
