About House of Compassion

House of Compassion was founded in 2012 on a simple conviction: that a teenager in crisis needs a home, not an institution. Fourteen years later we hold a CARF accreditation and a Missouri DSS license in continuous standing, and we serve sixteen adolescent boys at a time through Emergency Placement and Residential Level 3 care. Average length of stay is 6–12 months.

We are one house, not a campus. Sixteen beds, one front door, and a staff-to-resident ratio that means every adult here knows every resident by name, mood, and history. Family-style dinner at six every night. Birthdays, prom, bowling nights, summer trips, graduation celebrations that look like actual graduation celebrations. The clinical structure is what makes that possible — not what replaces it.

The team is the reason it holds together. Most of our staff have been here for years, which is deliberate: stability is one of our four pillars, and it applies to the adults as much as the residents. Same faces at breakfast, same faces at lights-out. Having reliable, supportive staff is part of our winning formula.

What you'll actually do

Own the care team. Coordinate with DSS case workers, guardians, home school districts, IEP teams, therapists, and contracted psychiatry. Our reputation is built on doing the coordinating that other providers point at the contract to avoid.
Drive treatment planning. Facilitate treatment team meetings, translate clinical recommendations into concrete goals, and keep plans current as residents change.
Plan for discharge from day one. Every resident's discharge plan is reviewed monthly. You keep it moving toward a stable next placement — and you stay in touch after, because we do.
Engage families. Coordinate visit and call schedules, support family therapy and reunification work when reunification is the plan.
Keep the documentation airtight. Progress notes, case files, incident documentation, and reporting that meets CARF and Missouri DSS standards.
Be present in the house. Case management happens at the kitchen table as much as at a desk. You'll know all sixteen residents by name, mood, and history.

What we're looking for

Required

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or a related field
21 years of age or older, with a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Ability to pass a background check and Missouri child safety registry screening
Strong written documentation skills — you can write a clear, defensible note under time pressure
Comfort in a licensed, accredited environment where records matter

Strongly preferred

Experience in residential treatment, foster care, juvenile services, or child welfare
Familiarity with Missouri DSS processes, CARF standards, or IEP coordination
Master's degree and/or licensure (LMSW, LPC, LBSW)
