SOKO Aesthetics & Wellness is seeking an experienced, highly motivated Functional Wellness Registered Nurse to join our rapidly growing wellness and weight-management service line.
At SOKO, our purpose is to transform lives by combining thoughtful, evidence-informed clinical care with five-star hospitality. This role is designed for a nurse who has previous experience managing and supporting patients within a functional medicine, hormone optimization, medical weight-loss, or integrative wellness setting.
The Functional Wellness Registered Nurse will work closely with our nurse practitioner to support patients currently enrolled in hormone replacement therapy and GLP-1 medical weight-management programs. The nurse will also help SOKO expand its functional wellness services through advanced testing, supplement guidance, nutrition education, lifestyle counseling, and highly personalized patient follow-up.
The ideal candidate understands that medication may be one component of a patient’s plan, but meaningful wellness outcomes often require a deeper evaluation of nutrition, gastrointestinal health, hormones, micronutrient status, metabolic health, sleep, stress, movement, and other lifestyle factors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Functional Wellness Patient Management
Support the nurse practitioner in the ongoing management of patients participating in:
- Medical weight-management and GLP-1 programs
- Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, including pellets, injections, creams, and troches
- Micronutrient, vitamin, peptide, and wellness-injection programs
- Metabolic health and body-composition improvement programs
- Personalized supplement and lifestyle protocols
Conduct structured patient follow-ups to assess symptoms, treatment adherence, nutrition, hydration, physical activity, sleep, gastrointestinal function, medication tolerance, side effects, and progress toward established goals.
Identify changes, concerns, or potential treatment complications and communicate findings promptly to the supervising nurse practitioner.
Help patients understand and follow the treatment plan established by their prescribing provider.
2. Advanced Functional Testing
Coordinate advanced wellness testing when ordered or approved by the nurse practitioner, which may include:
- DUTCH hormone and adrenal testing
- Comprehensive gastrointestinal and microbiome testing
- Food-sensitivity or immune-response testing, when clinically appropriate
- Micronutrient and nutritional-deficiency testing
- Metabolic, insulin-resistance, thyroid, inflammatory, and cardiovascular-risk testing
- Standard serum hormone and wellness laboratory panels
Educate patients on test preparation, specimen collection, timelines, and follow-up expectations.
Review results within the nurse’s training and scope of practice, organize relevant findings, and assist the nurse practitioner in developing clear patient education and follow-up plans.
Track outstanding testing, confirm that results have been received, and ensure patients are scheduled for timely clinical review.
3. Nutrition, Supplement, and Lifestyle Support
Provide practical, patient-specific nutrition education consistent with the treatment plan established by the nurse practitioner.
Help patients implement sustainable strategies related to:
- Protein and fiber intake
- Hydration and electrolyte balance
- Blood-sugar stability
- Gastrointestinal health
- Meal planning and food quality
- Strength training and preservation of lean muscle
- Sleep, stress management, and recovery
- Healthy weight loss and long-term weight maintenance
Educate patients regarding practitioner-approved supplements, including appropriate use, timing, adherence, and potential tolerability concerns.
Monitor patient response to supplement protocols and communicate potential adverse reactions, contraindications, medication interactions, or clinical concerns to the nurse practitioner.
The nurse will not independently diagnose conditions, prescribe medications or supplements, interpret testing beyond their authorized scope, or make changes to prescribed treatment plans without provider approval.
4. Patient Education and Accountability
Serve as a knowledgeable and encouraging point of contact between formal provider visits.
Translate complex wellness recommendations into understandable and actionable next steps.
Help patients establish realistic goals and maintain accountability through structured follow-up, progress tracking, and motivational support.
Reinforce that functional wellness care is individualized and may require adjustments over time based on symptoms, objective data, treatment response, and provider assessment.
Deliver education in a way that is supportive and empowering without making guarantees or overstating the expected benefits of any medication, supplement, laboratory test, or wellness therapy.
5. Clinical Support
Administer medications, injections, nutrient therapies, and other treatments pursuant to valid provider orders, established protocols, and the nurse’s legal scope of practice.
Obtain vital signs, body-composition measurements, health histories, medication lists, symptom updates, and other relevant clinical information.
Assist with blood draws, specimen processing, laboratory coordination, medication-refill workflows, and treatment preparation as needed.
Follow established clinical protocols for patient identification, medication safety, infection prevention, emergency response, and adverse-event escalation.
6. Documentation and Care Coordination
Maintain accurate, objective, and timely documentation within SOKO’s electronic health record platform.
Complete clinical documentation and patient communications within established SOKO timelines, preferably during the same business day.
Document patient-reported symptoms, education provided, adherence, side effects, progress, provider notifications, and follow-up recommendations.
Coordinate with the nurse practitioner, medical director, clinical support staff, pharmacies, laboratories, and supplement partners to ensure continuity of care.
Track laboratory orders, medication requests, refill needs, upcoming follow-ups, treatment milestones, and unresolved patient concerns.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, SOKO policies, and all applicable professional and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications and RequirementsRequired

- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the State of Kansas

- Ability to work collaboratively while remaining within the legal and professional scope of registered nursing practice
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with DUTCH testing
- Experience with comprehensive gastrointestinal or microbiome testing
- Experience with professional-grade supplement protocols
- Training or certification in functional, integrative, or lifestyle medicine

- Experience with blood draws, injections, medication education, and laboratory coordination
- Familiarity with compounded hormone therapies, pellet programs, and medical weight-loss medications
- Experience working in a boutique, concierge, private-pay, or high-touch medical environment
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is clinically knowledgeable, highly organized, emotionally intelligent, and passionate about helping patients understand the factors affecting their health.
This person is comfortable discussing nutrition, gastrointestinal symptoms, hormones, metabolic health, supplements, sleep, stress, movement, and behavior change while recognizing the limits of their role and escalating medical decisions appropriately.
