Full Job Description

At Home Away from Home, we are in search of a compassionate and supportive leader capable of steering our educators, students, and families towards academic and social success. Your responsibilities will range from administration and marketing to mentoring teachers and welcoming new families, ensuring that your efforts leave a profound impact on the lives of children, families, and your team.

Job Summary:

The Preschool Director is responsible for the daily operations and administration of both Home Away From Home locations. They ensure the delivery of high-quality early childhood education, manage staff and budgets, maintain licensing standards, and create a safe and engaging environment for children.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Administrative Management

Oversee daily operations of the preschool facility.
Develop and manage budgets, tuition, and financial planning.
Maintain student records and enrollment documentation.
Handle communication with parents, staff, and regulatory agencies.

2. Staff Management

Recruit, hire, train, and supervise teaching and support staff.
Conduct staff evaluations and provide ongoing professional development.
Create staff schedules and ensure proper teacher-student ratios.

3. Curriculum and Program Development

Design, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate curricula that promote developmental goals.
Ensure compliance with educational standards and best practices in early childhood education.
Monitor classroom activities and provide guidance to teaching staff.

4. Licensing and Compliance

Ensure the school meets all local, state, and federal licensing requirements.
Stay updated with changes in laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
Prepare for and facilitate inspections or audits.

5. Parent and Community Engagement

Build strong relationships with parents and address concerns or issues.
Organize parent meetings, events, and community engagement initiatives.
Promote the school’s philosophy, mission, and programs within the community.

6. Child Safety and Well-being

Ensure a safe, clean, and nurturing environment.
Oversee the implementation of health, nutrition, and safety policies.
Handle emergency situations and report incidents appropriately.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
3 years or more experience in early childhood education, including leadership roles.
Knowledge of licensing regulations and accreditation standards (DCMR29 and OSSE documents and requirements)
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35.00 - $60.00 per hour
